What do I need to know about ferry crossing the Channel?

Harwich to Hook of Holland next month.
I'm so used to flying that I don't know if there's anything special to know about taking Stena. I have an overnight cabin each way.

What don't I know that I should know (if anything?)

i think it's all quite straightforward. pack everything you need in an overnight bag. haven't done that route but have done hull zeebrugge. there was lots going on on board.

You can't get back to your car during the crossing. They announce that breakfast is being served at 5am. Loudly. Via tannoy straight into your cabin. Don't expect to get an awful lot of sleep!

Straight to cabin and into bed on boating as you'll be woken early. Take everything you'll need on board as the car deck will be closed.

I love a big fry up in the canteen after night crossing Envy

We had a lovely trip. Food and drink are expensive so take some water/snacks. Cabins are obviously small but nicely done. Powerful shower, towels and soap included. TV has english channels. Plugs need euro adapter, so pop one in your bag. Easy and effective.

Sorry I thought my first post was a bit harsh - had a really bad experience with loud groups.

Then I realised it was Hull not Harwich Blush

Hope your is better. Something exciting about sleeping on a boat or train isn't there....

thanks, I had given up on any replies. :)

Not done Harwich but done a few others. Take lots of refreshments/snacks, especially bottled water and maybe a frozen ice pack or two to keep them chilled. You will be woken early by tannoy but getting up and seeing where you're going is quite exciting...well it is for me but maybe I have a boring life!!
I have a few walks about once I'm settled in my cabin to get my bearings. I'm a bit of safety freak so I need to know how I get out if I have too. (i'm the same in hotels too...not just boats!)
