Summer in the alps ideas please.

Please give me ideas of a great summer destination in the alps with a seven year old. My DP is a keen athlete and does not fancy a lazy beach holiday. It does not need to be a budget holiday. Help

Can't think where there is a public pool in Chamonix but there may well be given the size of the town . Zell you can swim in the lake ! There is a big sports area and pool in nearby Kaprun.

Seefeld is another resort which springs to mind , great indoor/outdoor pool, picturesque walking and close to Innsbruck.

There is a public pool in a largish leisure centre in Cham.

Thank you very one for all your ideas, from were we are it's easier to go to Geneva than Australia so the decision is now Lake annecy which DP thinks will be good for the kids, I really wanted to go to Chamonix. I have stated another thread asking for accommodation ideas. Thank you so much for the help so far.

I went to Annecy when I was 16. Beautiful place...am sure you will have a fab time. I remember swimming in the lake, trying and failing to windsurf....and a day trip to Chamonix! No current info on accomm or anything, sorry. Sure others will be along soon.

What about Schwangau on the German, Austrian border. We stayed here last year. It was fantastic. Lovely castles to visit, spas to relax in and all the mountain activities on your doorstep. Not too expensive either.

Sorry, don't know how to link on iPad but we are looking at chalet hotel des deux domaines for next year, it has an amazing itinerary including a trip to Lake Annecy.
