Skin so soft as anti-mosquito spray

I've heard people on here talking about Avon SSS as a good anti-mosquito spray, does it matter which one you buy?

They have several different scents/formulations on the website. I get bitten to feck a lot, but I'm still breast feeding, so don't want to use the traditional products.

And does it really work? (Hopeful!)

Thanks everyone.

Just to clarify-we're going to Mallorca, so not worried about malaria etc (would absolutely NOT take chances with those) but whenever I get bitten, I react pretty strongly and come up in huge red itchy lumps.

It does sound as though Avon SSS isn't the right thing (will remember it when we go to Scotland!) so will probably stick with the standard anti-mosquito stuff, and try to cover up so I only need to spray feet/hands/face.

Thanks Smile

It's the 'green' SSS that works - we've used it in S. Africa and Scotland - as well as loads of other places, and it does help.

We also spray repellent in the room before we go out for dinner, so that when we return, any insects are dead (normally!!!)

Look in the Spanish supermarket for a plug in device with replacement tabs.

Or get before you go:

I get bitten in the bedroom or damp bathroom more than anywhere.

Try to avoid being around water or greenery at dusk if you can.

And a gin and tonic before dinner never does any harm. Wink

Definitely a bit pen for you is a good idea then op. You're like me, I scratch them to beggary, and make them ten times worse. If you press the pen on as soon as you are bitten it really takes the edge off!

Bite pen, not bit pen Smile

Gin and tonic you say? Grin I think I'll go for that.

Avon SSS I tested in Spain and Poland. I must say that it works sensational against midges and mozzies, a little worse against mosquitoes, it probably depends on the person. SSS is, however more skin-friendly than traditional repellents, and even if it does not work, you will still have soft and moisturized skin.

G&T...how did I not know that would help!!!

I get bitten like crazy and usually end up with cellulitis from infected bites so I now have a routine which does help, though the little blighters do still get me sometimes:
Vitamin B and garlic tablets 1 month before I travel
Insect repellent with DEET
Avon SSS (original flavour)
Homemade mixture of lemon myrtle oil and tea tree, quite a lot of each with carrier oil.

I also take the insect repellent out with me and reapply during the evening and before bed.

Now I shall add liberal portions of G&T to my regime!!!!

fortunately you aren't going anywhere that farting around with 'natural' products could mean death; malaria, dengue etc.

cover up. DEET is fine when breastfeeding.

I bought this when I went to Scotland. Didn't fucking work. I got eaten alive.
