Hi
I currently have a oyster pram and Britax car seat (which my lo hates !!!) I was thinking of just using the pram, as it is more airy etc, when on holidays but not sure whether to take the car seat as well ?!?! We will be travelling from the airport to the resort by bus .....should I take both or not ??

I woud take the car seat for the bus jorney - it won't fit in the seats with any lap belt so you'll end up holding the baby anyway.

I had sort of thought that ...thanks :)

Personally I would just take a sling and neither car seat or pram. Is that an option? We took ds2 to Vietnam for 6 weeks at this age and a sling was great.
Most pavements abroad have potholes galore, steps everywhere in hotel and out, beaches prams get stuck on, restaurants that won't allow prams due to space, long waits at airports for pram etc

Really recommend the boba 3G or 4g

Never actually thought of a sling !!! Thanks for that idea :)

You absolutely should take a pram. I took my dd to menorca when she was 20 weeks and there's no way we could have done it without a pram, not without seriously limiting our holiday. Our dd would sleep for a good 2 hours a day in the pram, often more as the heat really takes it out of them. A pram is much more comfy than a sling for longer periods. It's also useful at night, I used to feed dd, and then dh and I could enjoy a meal and drinks in resort whilst dd slept in the pram. We just transferred her then into the cot when we got back to the hotel. It's a very easy age to travel with I found as not weaning etc. honestly I don't know how anyone does a normal summer holiday without a pram. We still used them when dds were age 2-3 at night time as they'd often fall asleep early. If you are not planning on going out at night you may not need one as much but personally I'd consider staying in the hotel after 7pm a waste of a holiday!

I'd take both sling and pram for all the reasons already outlined.

NaomiD1212 · 09/06/2014 19:29

Oh I'm definitely taking the pram it was the car seat I was querying !!!! Not sure how much it would actually be used, if at all ?!?

Jam - we have travelled virtually every month for last 4 years of having children. Never taken a pram. 1 year between them so had x2 slings for a while. They would fall asleep and stay in sling, or stay asleep on sunbed/ lap/ chair/ bed/ anywhere

Really depends where you go. We always usually travel off the beaten track so prams never would have worked. Kids still had and have long siestas on holiday
