lakelovers.co.uk are really good for self catering cottages

Try welcome cottages.

Also Pepper house at Sattersthwaite used to be fantastic, but it is years since we went!

national trust always great. spacious and good price out of season. I have found them consistantly good and locations fantastic

Thankyou for the ideas. Found pepper house on web site but say no chidren under 8!! This makes my blood boil. Have one daughter who will be 8 and Charlotte is 2. Find this sort of child discrimination far too often. only in Britain can this sort of thing happen so much.

Nab Cottage is very interesting (literary connections) and welcomes children but the rooms aren't (all) ensuite. It is between Ambleside and Grasmere. The home made bread was excellent!
