thetrainline.com is good if booking in advance

some train companies have had deals where you pay for train tickets & attractions at once or you can get discounted entry to attractions but wouldn't know where to look - probably start by looking at your local train company online.

we're you travelling from?

If you're anywhere near the Chiltern line they seem to be about the cheapest

The east coast main line is really cheap anyway - we live near Preston and for someone to travel from here to Norwich was c £60 from Preston (it went via London or something equally stupid), £40 from Skipton or £25 from Leeds.

Just put your dates/times into GNER .

Oh, and get a family railcard!

If you are fairly flexible about when you go its usually much cheaper with GNER to book two singles rather than a return - I've just booked a trip to London in November via Leeds and they had really cheap "Advance" singles for £9.50 and half that price for under 15s.

Read this - you might get a few ideas from it.

Great site bogwobbit! Never realised its cheaper to split the journey in two, eg London to Bristol, Bristol to Penzance than get a ticket London to Penzance. Wonderful tip!
