What to see in Stratford upon Avon with children

We will be in Warwick for 2 nights early June and plan to do one day in Warwick Castle and one day in Stratford. Would the Stratford walking tour be too much for a 7 & 8 year old bearing in mind we will have done 2 days in Legoland and the next day in Warwick Castle. Alternatively would the city sightseeing bus be worthwhile with kids.... also looking at the Mad museum.

Really not sure best way to spend the day in Stratford so that we all enjoy it. I'd love to see Anne Hathaway's garden but would the kids ebjoy it?

Any suggestions welcome!

If you have a nice day the best bit about Stratford is just having a picnic by the river. Watch the boats, watch the canal boats going down on the lock, see the swans, go over on the chain ferry, all very simple and free (well 50p each for the ferry). The Butterfly place in right by the river/theatre/piazza bit and is entertaining for youngish ones. Kenilworth is a great place for kids to run about it BTW, but you probably have enough to pack in already.

We were in Stratford on Thursday after being at Warwick Castle on (wet) Wednesday.

We had a lovely time there, we started off at the MAD museum which I really liked, it was quirky and interesting but small so didn't take long at all. We then had a walk around the shops and down to the river and through to the Butterfly Centre. That was good too, very hot and humid as obviously the butterflies need that and also quite quick to get round (although there are a few benches where we could have sat for longer if it wasn't for the kids wanting to hurry along).

We then walked back by the river, had a cream tea and then did the open top bus from outside the tourist info. This was a bit pricey but enjoyable as you could get off and on as you wanted it's the same company who do them all over (we didn't as we were happy to just see things from outside, however Mary Ardens house looked quite interesting).

We got to Stratford at about 10.30 and were at our hotel by about 3.30 so we had time to rest before dinner.
