We're off on our first holiday soon with baby who has just turned one. Tunisia 8 nights, 3 hour flight. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, aside from the obvious (clothes and milk- she's cmpa) I have no idea what we need. What would you not travel without? Tia. X

Small first aid kit with plaster, thermometer and Calpol. And a good health insurance to see a doctor if necessary.

Favourite cuddly toy or snuffle in the handluggage. Take also more nappies in the handluggage than you think if you are delayed and two sets of spare clothes (like t-shirt and leggings) and a top for you.

A couple of new books or small toys. For the flight get something without noise and if you loose it no problem. Not too small as you won't have lots of space to hunt for it if it is dropped. Pad of paper and crayons?

Suncream factor 50 and a wide sun hat. DD loved her baby banz sunglasses and we were very strict about wearing them. I prefer a full UV suit to a little swim suit as it will make it easier to cover her instead of trying to get suncream into every little area.

Swim nappies, uv suits, a good shade for the buggy. Favourite comfort toys and story book.

Arm bands / ring for swimming, flat obviously. If there is a baby pool take a plastic cup or mini watering can, keeps mine happy for ages!

Don't forget a change of clothes for everyone in your hand luggage in case of sick / nappy leakage.

Basic medical kit including sachets of calpol, teething gel and anti histamine.

Don't worry. We took DC age 3 and just 1 on a 17 hour journey, with 2 long haul flights and a 3 hour change over. I was really worried about how everyone would cope but we did it and it was fine. Hard work but fine.

I'd recommend a backpack for hand luggage as it's much easier if you have both hands free.

Have a great time.

Pushchair, with good sun shade. So DC can nap where ever you are.

UV suit and sun hat that stays on in the pool.

Just had another thought - a set of toddler size cutlery. Can never seem to find it in restaurants abroad, or even in the the uk. Normally end up asking for a teaspoon.

Take a small cheap blow up paddling pool. That way if the pool is cold, you can put some water in the pool (which will heat up warmer) for baby to splash about it. We always took them.
