Cheddar in hand luggage? (Easyjet to Madrid)

Does anyone have any recent experience of travelling with cheese in their hand luggage? DD1 is going to visit some friends in Madrid and I want to send them some of the vintage cheddar (ie quite hard, not pasty) they like. She's only going for a few days and is taking hand luggage only. Will Easyjet be OK about the cheddar do you think?

It's not the airline you need to worry about, it's the Spanish Customs, and if they'd let you in with dairy products.

I took loads of lovely Lancashire cheese in my hand luggage on last visit to parents in Spain travelling on Easyjet. No problems, customs did not comment.

Dad was very pleased to have a supply of jig favourite cheese which he can't get in Spain ! Smile

I've decided I'm just going to risk it and send the two packs I got earlier. DD can just find someone to give them to in the airport if they make her dispose of them. Thanks!

My DD lives in Germany and has taken large packs of cheddar and wensleydale back on several occasions both from the UK and France. Never been a problem. I don't think they can impose restrictions on this kind of thing within the EU.

Flew from Speke to Limoges with a bag full of Holland's pies - the foil dishes showed up on the x-ray, but the security guy told me he took them to his villa in Turkey, so didn't have a problem.
