can you take a trunki on ryanair as cabin luggage?

We are flying to Cork tomorrow with Ryanair (reluctantly but best route for a short break).
Has anyone had recent experience with taking a trunki as cabin luggage?
Have searched online and there seem to be conflicting opinions as to whether it is OK (in view of the extra 0.5cm width).

Know my son will be gutted if we don't take it but don't want a bill for £50!

Thanks
Vikki

I know my sister couldn't when she went as she had to buy new smaller cases as her trunkis were too big.

She didn't take them at all so I don't know if they would have let her take them. I imagine you have to check them in those cages.

If it's over size then it maybe declined but there were plenty when we flew to spain at Easter. So it depends if they check it really...

officially, trunki's are slightly too big but we went to malaga at easter and there were trunki's on the flight. we flew from east midlands which is quite a small airport and we find the staff there to be a bit more flexible than they were in malaga.

Like nipersvest said. I flew ryanair from stansted fine with a trunki as hand luggage last year, the guy took a look at it and said it was fine. Didn't have to use the cage thing.

Ours fit into ryanair cages at stansted no problem, and staff didn't look at our hand luggage at all...
