I have been in early spring and late autumn, its freezing, just as cold as in UK. Wrap up warm and enjoy the atmosphere. I am very cynical and easily annoyed but I do love disneyland, I have been 3 times now. Last time was after halloween with Pumpkins everywhere.

It is cold when queing but queues won't be as long as in the middle of summer. As long as the kids are wrapped up warm with good cosy boots not wellies, they are so excited and run about that they don't notice the cold. Don't stay out late every night and make use of the hotel pool. We have never made it to the pool yet always last out the park .

ocd · 29/08/2006 21:14

no
id hate it

Skribble · 29/08/2006 21:19

I thought I would but the first time it was free, (won a competition). They one me over and I wanted to go back. Loved skipping up the main road with DD to the horrible piped music . The shos are great and warm inside.

I am the type of person that even hates going to the cinema as I can't stand other peoples kids rattling my seat and making loads of noise, grumpy old sod really.

buktus · 29/08/2006 21:48

we went this may and last may and loved every minute, the first tiem we went we had just walked up main steet and minnie mouse had just walked out to do autographs my two bots were waving like mad at her so she came over bent down and blew him a kiss close up in his face, he stood there with the biggest smile i fell to pieces cried my eyes out really brought a lump to my throat ( i was just pregnant with dd so perhaps it was the hormones) just wondering whether it would be so good in the cold

OP posts:
ocd · 30/08/2006 17:53

er. you cried over a dressed up mouse?

LadyTophamHatt · 30/08/2006 17:57

I went year and yeras ago, pre kids on afreebie through my work.
I have to say disney land at xmas was beuatiful...the main street when it's all lite up was magical. For a child it would be FAB, any child would love it.

However i'm with Cod on this one...I'd rather chew my arm off than go now so my kids will just have to take my word for it.

buktus · 30/08/2006 19:26

er and why r u called ocd?

OP posts:
AllieBongo · 30/08/2006 19:29

she's cod really, just crap at spelling. I love it there. And even if other peoples kids get on my nerves, and it's cheesey and commerical, my children loved it. miserable buggers

buktus · 30/08/2006 20:54

my kids love it too, there is always so much to do there and they are still young enough to believe in all the magic we always go in may so i thought it might be a nice xmas treat for them - i was asking advice, how do you know you hate it if you have never been, anyway thanks alliebongo for a NICE reply

OP posts:
TheRealCam · 30/08/2006 21:07

Of course all children love it/would love it given it half a chance, shame on the parents who are too (insert your own choice of excuse) to take them....

buktus · 30/08/2006 21:27

i agree

OP posts:
LadyTophamHatt · 30/08/2006 21:31

Dh suggested taking them at xmas this yr....when I'll be a few weeks away from giving birth again.

Not on your nelly mate!!

Skribble · 30/08/2006 21:32

I am converted I enjoyed it as much as the kids, best bit was when we left DH with DS in thre studios bit and me and DD went into Disney land bit ourselves and went on all the fairytale rides together. Its a time to get off your cynical high horse and let your kids enjoy it and take it for what it is. We don't spend much in the shops and kids are happy to go on the rides and things and don't expect me to buy loads of stuff.

buktus · 30/08/2006 21:43

lth i was in that situation last year i was three weeks away so will hopefully get round to doing it this xmas

OP posts:
buktus · 30/08/2006 21:52

skribble - we love it too and our most inmportant thing are the kids having a great time, we were going away to a holiday village turkey in august but the kids have only ever been to disney and we didnt know whether it would be a bit crap compared to it so we didnt bother - they are only young and would prob get bord spending a week or two just sat round the pool i think we will try this but when they are a bit older. We thought about lapland this xmas but i dont know of anyone who has done this and it would also mean leaving the baby behind with mil because of the cold

OP posts:
LadyTophamHatt · 30/08/2006 21:52

If i had to take them....like, really had no choice in it, then I would definatley take them at Xmas time.

I wouldn't go at any other time of yr because it really was magical.
Comical shite but magical all the same

ocd · 30/08/2006 22:02

my ds1 is not going to dsineyland

oh no
POOR ds1 he si going to REAL paris iwht his mummy
in tow weeks!

LadyTophamHatt · 30/08/2006 22:06

yes...thats the thing, my ds1+2 would much rather climb the eiffel tower than see mickey and minnie.

They'd drive each other to destraction waiting in queues for the rides, it would be hell.

They would LOVE to go up the eiffel tower and go through the tunnel on eurostar

Skribble · 30/08/2006 22:06

Lapland is abit out of my reach. My kids love Paris too, they got the choice last year of Disney and a day in Paris or Paris and a day in Disney they opted for Paris and totaly loved it.

Considering going back in Oct and will stay in Paris with a day out to Disney again. Its a good comprimise it you don't want to go totaly disney.

Skribble · 30/08/2006 22:09

Queue for the eiffel tower can be huge too . Main plus point for me is being able to get decent real food in Paris as food in Disney is crap. I found a lovely little italian owned place where you can sit out on the pavement for the same price as it costs to sit in the back or even take away. They were so nice to me when I was there on my own and loved the kids when I took them.

buktus · 30/08/2006 22:18

mine are four, three and 8 months and would be bored shitless by the eifel tower , may look more into lapland instead for a change

We had a v v posh suite at Disneyland Hotel last Christmas dontcha know (shamelessly lording it emoticon)...

Our experience was - it was good - as DLP always is

But:

*It didn't really feel like Christmas Day on Christmas Day without family around us, turkey and all the trimmings

and

*We arrived on 22 December. It was luvverly and quiet on 22 and 23rd December, but by 24th December it was horrendously horrendously busy (and we've been before...so this was busy even by DLP standards)

HyacinthB · 30/08/2006 22:22

My dd enjoyed Paris and DLP. I guess she is like her mum - open minded and keen to experience many things
