Not been yet but how about the Pankhurst Centre?

Manchester Art Gallery is good. How far out are you willing to travel?

morethanpotatoprints · 30/04/2014 21:36

War Museum, theatres, Castlefield Roman ruins, (may have done these as near to Mosi), Lowry and Salford quays

cleanasawhistle · 01/05/2014 08:16

We usually stay at Salford Quays and like to use the tram where possible.

Can anyone recommend The Chill Factor,Airkix or the outdoor cinema at Spinningfields ?

Thanks for suggestions so far, will look them up.

...we will be in Manchester for The Ideal Home Show on the 7th June,my husband was keen to do this...anyone else going ?

Haven't been to the Chill Factor but have lots of friends who go regularly.

The Ideal Home Show sounds good, might she what my bf says tomorrow Smile

cleanasawhistle · 03/05/2014 10:34

Thanks.
I think you have to book tickets for the Ideal Home Show.

cleanasawhistle · 03/05/2014 10:44

Thanks...interesting name considering where I'm traveling from ;-)

The football museum is free and quite central, its just over the road from Victoria station.
As a word of warning the trams are all a bit odd at the moment because they are doing work on them in Manchester.

CumbrianExile · 03/05/2014 12:52

Ah, another cumbrian? There seems to be a lot of us in Manchester Grin

Yeah, it is right opposite Victoria Station, but you will need to get off the tram at Shudehill, its only a few minutes walk from there!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 03/05/2014 13:01

Think I might be looking at some of these suggestions myself for half term. We are a train ride away Smile

cleanasawhistle · 03/05/2014 14:22

Hello. Can anyone recommend a good online days out guide? I live near Bristol and am looking for something to do when my sister comes to visit in a few weeks. Just looking for some good indoor and outdoor options - dependent upon the weather. I've not really been very impressed with the ones I've come across already. Thanks Jx.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 06/05/2014 09:21

Have you tried looking at your MN local pages or asking on there? You might get some good recommendations Smile

I've been to the chill factore with kids. It's good. There is a section that you can go tobogganing and tubing on which is a good alternative if you don't want to ski or board. It a bit pricey I think it's £20 for and hour but can have 2 hours for £25. All the stuff is available to hire so you don't have to lug your own if you don't want too. There's an indoor climbing wall too and a few different places to eat. I'd say it was a good way to spend an afternoon. I don't know how you'd get too it in the tram though.
I've been to the outdoor cinema at Spinningfields too. Lots of funky outdoor bars and deck chairs you can sit on. Good atmosphere.

What about The Lowry.

Have fun.

cleanasawhistle · 06/05/2014 13:37

LJBanana I have just booked The Chill Factore for The Snow Park.
If you book to go in May or June the 1st person pays £25 and the second person gets in for £5 so it was cheaper than I was expecting.

Thanks for the info re the Outdoor Cinema...sounds good.

Some more good ideas on this thread:

LJBanana · 06/05/2014 14:31

That's a great deal. DS 1 went last week for a party and it looked great fun.
We went last year but they were too little to do the main activities in the snow park, they still had a good time though.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 06/05/2014 14:37

Some great suggestions on that thread, thanks Jean. Can remember loving Afflecks in my long distant teens Smile

JeanSeberg · 06/05/2014 14:42

Oh yes, me too Jilted. Getting the train to Manchester in the very early 80s felt so exciting!
