Anybody recommend somewhere good for a nights stopover with 3 children? Be nice if it had a pool : ) thinking early ferry, drive 4 hours, sleepover and continue journey down to Perpignan! Any tips in general would help actually!
Cheers

Novotel might be worth searching for. They often have pools.

Look at owners direct for chambers d'hôtel. You probably won't get a pool but we've had some nice rooms for 5 or mini suites ( with interconnecting rooms) that have been cheaper than chain hotels.

We stayed in a lovely place in the limosin twice.

Thanks all for replying and I'll take a look at the links. Celticghurl.. Sorry if this seems flippant, been there, times are better for us but I have a lovely old caravan which I am doing some work on this summer before it goes back out next spring, if it's taken care of would gladly let anyone that needs a break stay in it for a week at no cost, if you want to keep in touch?

Theas18, looks lovely, they are minimum of two nights, shame, but I'll look around the area you have all suggested!

Just wondering if they have repaired the autoroute around Rouen after the bridge/tunnel was damaged. Last time I did Calais to the Limousin via Rouen the diversions added over an hour to the journey time.

Is there anything on the gites de France site under chambre d'hotes? Might be worth a look.

They hadn't finished as of 3 weeks ago, but I think it was supposed to be completed by summer 2014. You don't actually need to follow the diversions, just take the next bridge along on the way north, or take the next but one on the way south, and you connect back onto the normal route.
