I am taking my 8-year-old DD to London next week, when we went last year she said that she would like to go back and do one of the sightseeing boat trips, any recommendations please? TIA

Hi

I usually take my DC on the Clipper. It's the commuter river bus that goes from the London eye up to Greenwich (sometimes as far as O2 and back. It has loos, café etc. from Tower Bridge to Greenwich it goes really fast which is quite fun, but it slows right down in central London so you can take in all the sights. We like it because there isn't a commentary, as we prefer to look at stuff ourselves and not have someone droning on about dates things were built. But the tourist river boats go from the same jetties as Clipper.

If you have a travelcard, you get a reduction on the cost of the Clipper ticket - can't remember how much. A return ticket is well under £10 iirc and for a child about 1/2 that.

I was going to suggest the Clipper too. My DCs loved it. Much cheaper than tourist boats. If you're not familiar with London, a map will help you spot all the sights, as they don't go that fast.

I used to commute on the clipper about ten years ago. Smaller cats than the new flash ones, but loved it. glass of oj in the.morning, bottle of beer in the evening, guaranteed seat, lovely views ... Even beat the dlr!

YY to the Clipper. You can pay with an Oyster card (we have them just for trips to London once a year!) and it's really reasonable but I can't remember the exact price.

Thank you all, do we need to book in advance for it?
