Liquids pastes and gels are classed as liquids - lipstick, mascara etc as well as obvious liquids.

Baby wipes will be ok

When we went through years ago you coukd take jars of baby food, but had to taste it.

Most airport websites will give advice

specialsubject · 12/04/2014 16:41

seconded; the restrictions are ALL liquids, ALL gels, ALL pastes. That includes all makeup and toiletries that are in bottles or containers - much expensive slap has been lost that way.

but not wipes.

baby food rules are different, and as noted the airport website for the airport that you are using will advise.

Baby wipes are fine. You can also take baby food but they may ask you to taste it, I have never been asked to though.

We'd no problem with wipes but teething gel caused a bit of a kerfuffle at our airport Blush

girlywhirly · 15/04/2014 14:02

Yes wipes are fine. If you need stuff like teething gel it's easiest to buy it at the airside shops after security, unless you are using one of the plastic bags anyway.

NotMrsTumble · 15/04/2014 14:09

some of the 4+ month pouches are under 100ml, which means they fit into the criteria for eg mascara etc, then you shouldn't be asked to taste them.

On the other hand I did have to taste my ebm as the bottles were over 100ml (figured bottles might be easier on the confined space of cattle class)

wet wipes will be fine.

What I mean is, does the baby food have to go into the clear plastic bag or can I keep it with the rest of her food. She won't eat jars or pouches so its home cooked food.

It has to go in the clear bag. It can be over 100mls only if it is food for an infant but it has to be in the bag.

I took a frozen pouch yogurt through and it was well over 100mls but it must not have looked like a liquid on the X-ray as it was frozen.

The container that the food goes in must not be more than 100ml .

Here are official guidelines on food/drink when travelling with a baby. We are flying with DS soon too so I had this bookmarked!

My understanding is food and drink can be over 100ml and there is no mention about putting it in a plastic bag. Whereas with other items they are very explicit that they must be in bags. I might try to ring someone at airline or airport to check. Not sure how it would be possible to fit bottles into those bags anyway!?
