Looking at going to Mexico, Dominican, them kind of places during the kids summer hols - late August - is this a bad time to go due to bad weather?

We've been to Florida and Mexico second week July and it's been fine - mostly sunny with the odd thunderstorm/shower. I think it's more temperamental the later you go though but I think that is more September/October. I would have a look at the history of rainfall/hurricanes/tropical storms and then make your mind up.

We went to Mexico late July/early august a couple of years ago and weather was fab. Don't think it was hurricane season when we went anyway!

Peak of the hurricane season is September so you're taking a bit of a risk late August but you might be fine. Do a google of the history and decide what you feel comfortable with.

My sister went to Barbados last August, she was a bit disappointed in the weather. It was hot, but it rained every day. She had expected this, but thought it would rain for an hour or so, and then clear. About half the days it rained all day long.

She was probably just unlucky, but it is the rainy season !

We have taken grand kids to tne Dom. Rep. in August, and it was good. Some showers but they did not last long and freshened everything up. We are taking them to Mexico this summer and hoping the weather is similar. We went to Barbados some years ago in August and it rained every late afternoon for about 45 minutes then stopped. It was not a problem, just curiously predictable.
