Maclaren Ryder OK from birth?

I've just bought Maclaren Ryder from Ebay. It was described as "from birth" but I've since done some research and have found it described as either from birth or from 3 months on varying sites. It has 4 reclining positions and I assumed one of them was flat (ie for a new born)

Has anyone got one of these buggies and can let me know if it was OK from birth for their baby?
Thanks

Maclaren website describes it as suitable from birth

Yes, thanks, I saw that too. I was wondering if anyone had put this "advice" into practice...ie if it does actually lie flat or if the lowest level is at an angle which Maclarens considers OK for newborns, but others might not...

We got a ryder as our second buggy ie after he was 6 months old. I would think it isn't from birth as it reclines to about 45 degrees and doesn't lie flat Sorry . It also doesn't have any extra support like a head hugger. We looked in to all of the Maclarens and the only two which are suitable from birth are the global (you could also attach a car seat to this one), which I am not still sure they do, and the TechnoXT, which my sister has had with her little one from birth. I think it depends how long they are in it ie are you living in a village or town and will be out in it loads pushing them around, or will it be just for short journeys. We got a Mamas and papas pramette which has been fantastic as they can lie flat and face you and you can then convert it in to a pushchair type thing, but it is much bulkier. We also got it cheaper as it wwas last years colours! Hope that is helpful...

PS we got it to go on holiday with so we could take it on the plane! I still use the pramette but it has been useful to have the smaller one to leave at my mums etc WE also got the ryder cheaper from kiddicare but prob not as good a price as ebay. Good luck

I've got one - I'd say it was pretty flat! perhaps not 100%, but definately nothing like 45degrees. So I'd say a very slight angle, and if you had some blankets etc padding it would be fine.

I'd be more worried about how you'd secure them so they don't slide around, since it has one of those 3 pt harnesses which are massive for babies and no head hugger etc.
