Are eurocamps as good as they look?

Hi, we are looking for a holiday this year with 2 children under 4. The eurocamps in France look cheap in comparison with the uk parks but are they as good as they look? Personal experiences would be welcome, we don't want to camp though, just want our own unit in a park.

They are good but weather in France not always that much better than uk unless you go south. I have done it a couple of times with under 4 s in mobile homes. Nice accommodation, good pool etc. if weather is dire though, there is not always that much to do indoors either on site or in local area. They do have parks throughout Europe, would suggest somehwre good weather is more reliable

Agree with givemeaclue! We gave up on Brittany and The Vendee after a few wet weeks and then booked here in Italy and here in Languedoc both of which were fab and lovely and hot!! Try looking at different companies too as Eurocamp can be expensive! Try Keycamp, Matthews, Select camp, Canvas and some of the smaller ones too!

We have used Keycamp (in Brittany) and Thomson Al Fresco (in Spain).
both were fine - and on good sites. However Brittany in August was not as hot and sunny as I had hoped.

Perhaps go inland a little - to the loire region, or further south down to Charente Maritime or Llanguedoc (quite a long drive).

Some parks seem to have more facilities than others. If you use the big companies to find out info then you could look at booking with a smaller outfit - someone mentioned Venue holidays recently - they look much better prices. Also the parks usually have their own properties, so you can book direct with them.

Although using a large company such as Eurocamp or Canvas - it is simple and you can book your ferry at the same time.

Keycamp and Eurocamp are the same company now. We have done quite a few in France and Italy (Keycamp, Siblu and Canvas) and always had a good time. Kids clubs won't be available for kids of your age - though they might have a drop in one where you have to stay. But generally I found dd always made friends at the pool/by the mobile home. How far are you prepared to drive?

We went to Camping de la Baie at Trinite Sur Mer in Brittany near Carnac and it was great when children were small AND the weather was good in July/August. Pitches are a bit small but beaches were excellent and our children loved the pool. If you don't want scorching sun, Brittany is fine and not too far to travel from St Malo. A big consideration in my view.

check on ukcampsites.co.uk and you will generally be able to get reviews of the campsites. some have much bigger pitches than others. if you are going to a hotter place suggest AC. we always went to brittany and whilst we did have a few hols with rain it was generally like cornwall but with better weather and less tat or people

We love Eurocamp, super good value and loads to do.
