Hi all

I need some help, it's my first pregnancy and we booked a holiday in Turkey a week before we found out! By the time we go I will be 32 weeks pregnant. I am very anxious about if I should be going. Any advice would be really appreciated.

I was in the EXACT same position you're in, holiday was booked a week before finding out I was pregnant! I even got a letter from the GP saying I could fly, etc. Something made me cancel, not sure what, I was concerned about the heat etc. but don't know what it was specifically that made me cancel - we got the money back from insurance. And we were very lucky, our DS made a very surprising and sudden entrance at 32 weeks on the dot and had to spend a month in NICU! I shudder when I think what could've happened if we'd gone on that holiday. Best case, we'd have been stuck in a Turkish hospital with a sick preemie.

I don't mean to scare you, but you need to think of all possibilities and outcomes before making a decision!

After all your comments we have decided to cancel the holiday. Hopefully will get they money back through insurance. As we booked flights through thomson and not the holiday they we're little then useless. We asked if we could bring the flights forward to April and were told we they wouldn't do that for us without loosing all our money!! I would say don't book flights and accommodation separate especially with thomson. Useless.

I booked for Spain when I would have been 32 weeks and 33/34 on the return. The flight would take me but when I tried to phone round getting insurance it was a problem. I would never travel without complete insurance. Think you probably did the right thing.
