All being well, my friend is booking a (very) last minute break right now. We'll be there 2 days, with 3 mums, 3 under 3's and a 6month old. We want a nice relaxing time! Please come up with some great suggestions. I know I can rely on mumsnetters to come up trumps

OK this week is Old town carnival week so you will have missed that, but if you want a nice relaxing week that is a good thing trust me.

Where are you going to be staying and what do you like doing?

mustrunmore · 09/08/2006 14:50

Should say, would love to meet up, but am going with 2 nonmumsnetters, and it'll be like a family holiday witout the family!

fluttergandhibee · 09/08/2006 14:52

Come on where are you staying, what do you like doing and will you have transport?

mustrunmore · 09/08/2006 14:53

Dont know tha name of the place yet. Its a hotel that has self catering too, so we're getting one huge room on b&b basis, with some of in beds and some on floor!
the kids are 2 boys one girl. aim is to tire them out! they like castles, dinosaurs, cars, all the normal stuff. I'd also appreciate some recs for good cheap eats for lunch and tea!

We'll have 2 cars, but I think after the drive from London we want to stay in one place as much as possible.

eat fish and chips. and seafood.

beckybrastraps · 09/08/2006 15:07

Bodiam castle of course!! (You will need to drive, but if you have castle-loving children....)

fluttergandhibee · 09/08/2006 15:16

Bodium castle is lovely and only about a half an hour drive.

Hastings castle is not worth going to, but if you take the West Hill lift up onto the hill (or walk if you are feeling fit) you can go to smugglers adventures and then have a picnic on the hill (huge grass area for kids to run around on) or pop to the cafe either way you will have stunning views of the whole town and the sea.

On the seafront in the Old Town their is a little childrens fair with plenty for them to do, if you walk along the seafront towards the pier (which is closed do not go their) you will come accross some trampolines and a mini golf area, these are great fun and the pricing is not too bad.

Their is always the beach (remember it is mad eof pebbles) which is free, again always good for a picnic.

The Old Town is beautiful, I lived their for many years myself.

I shall be back with more info but have to feed the baby.

Lemmingswife · 09/08/2006 15:18

There is the sealife centre too!

mustrunmore · 09/08/2006 15:29

picnics sound good, and smugglers Keep it coming!!
Why is Hastings castle no good?
Sorry to sound stupid, but I hsve no experience of this area of the country at all!

OP posts:
fluttergandhibee · 09/08/2006 19:14

Oh the castle is no good becaue must of it has fallen down, seriously all their is is a few piles of old bricks NOTHING to look around at all.

OK do you know where you are staying yet, I can tell you what its like what is near you etc.

I will be popping off to have dinner any second and shall probably be about a little bit this evening, if not it will be tomorrow then.

mustrunmore · 09/08/2006 20:03

Ok, we are in the Bryn-Y-Mor hotel in the old town. We've got an outdoor heated pool

I know where you are staying, just down the road from my old junior school

OK you are in a very residential area and it will be nice and quiet at night, they are being at but naughty because they are not actually in the Old Town they are actually in Clive Vale (another very nice area).

Just to warn you Hastings is very hilly and to get back to your hotel from town you will have to go up a hill, I'm sure the people in the hotel will tell you how to get into the Old Town but I think down the side of the hotel is a passage way with steps going down, if you walk down their you will come out on Harold road go right and follow the road you will go up a small hill and then down the other side, following it down and you will come to a huge beautifull church. You are now officially in the Old Town Woo Hoo. It is only about a 10 min walk if that and 2 mins later you are on the seafront right near that little fare I told you about.

Sorry if I am rambaling I have lots more info if you want it, just let me know.
