Hoping to go to Club Med Hammamet in October. It would be great to hear from anyone who has been here or done any kind of club med holiday. We've only been to Mark Warner before and I'm not too clear on the hours for the kids clubs, do they join us for lunch? What happens about supper, etc.

All information greatly received.

We're going here in October- never been to this particular one before, but have been to other(Nabuel) at same time for the last two years.

Kids clubs from 10ish to about 5ish I think. Ds wouldn't go so not too sure. Also in the evening, and would take the children for an early dinner. Parents could take children early too. Dd's club could come and go as she pleased. If at club then they lunch there.

Club Med is fun, but need to remember wherever you are in the world, the language spoken in the villages is french, which can be quite difficult for the children in club.

We have now finished up going to the Palmiye resort in southern Turkey due to a mix up with the rooms. Club Med thought that it would be ok to put my children ages 8, 10, & 12 in their own room on the same floor of the hotel but not at all close to us.

We are all French speakers so that part won't be a problem luckily.

Is it very dressy in the evenings or casual like Mark Warner?

Thanks for help everyone.

casual in evenings, they do tend to have a fancy dress night for the kids so you might want to take something for them to dress up in. When we last went they would have themed evenings like wear white or one particular hideous one was jeans and a tie, eek. But not everyone does it.

The marvellous thing about ClubMed as there are few Brits, no football shirts and they all speak french and you don't have to pay any attention to anyone. We did find a few Americans there thinking they were somewhere exotic.

Dee, we spent two weeks in Palmiye in 2003 and enjoyed it. Yes, it is very French-oriented although any staff we mentioned that to were quite indignant and stressed the international nature of Club Med to us! The children's clubs are run in a variety of languages, when ds1 was there they seemsed to be speaking a mixture of French, English and Dutch although the staff themselves were mostly Israeli or Italian so obv had those languages at their disposal as well. I think your kids will manage fine, ours were much younger and I did worry about them making themselves understood.

Palmiye is a big resort (might be Club Med's biggest?) and if it is full (was April when we were there so was only half-full) I think mealtimes etc could be very noisy and a bit overwhelming. They did have a theme for most evenings, usually just a colour or something simple but nearly everyone - except the unfortunate staff - ignored it.

Overall, we probably enjoyed Club Med more than Mark Warner as there were very few English people and it seemed a lot more relaxed than Mark Warner where there were rather too many Boden-wearing mummies discussing schools and being earnest and involved with their children. I go on holiday to get away from that kind of thing!
