Thinking of booking an all inclusive hotel, what do you think?

We normally go camping but am pregnant and fancy a bit of home comfort. Are these all inclusive deals worth it?

Some are, some aren't. I've done two. First was crap and we all got food poisoning and DS broke his leg due to crappy broken play equipment.

12 years later I plucked up courage to try again.. Was amazingly lovely and luxurious.

First crap one was in Mallorca with Thompsons.
Second lovely one was at Taba Heights in Egypt with Longwood Holidays.

If you don't plan to venture out much it can be worth it to book in advance as you tend to be charged more to do so locally either as a package or for the odd meal(check direct with the hotel though as it may depend on exchange rates and season). Be careful though, not All Inclusives are ,er, all inclusive (!) as there can be different levels for each tour operator and other guests, and it can be limited to certain drinks and snacks otherwise you have to pay extra anyway. Oh and you have to wear a coloured wrist band which looks pretty naff !

it is if you drink and eat alot, we went on one this year and it just took the stress out of everything, kids wanted a drink they could have one, they knocked one over, they could get another, ice-creams were free in our hotel too.

I didn't want to be watching money all holiday and say no all the time.

From the reviews I have read all drinks, including international and ice creams are included. Don't fancy wearing a wristband, sounds terribley naff.

I think it depends where you are going. If you are holidaying in the Med then I would think probably not, best to visit local restaurants etc however if you are somewhere more farflung then it usually is. When we went to Mexico and Sri Lanka was definitely worth going all inclusive as hotels were not near towns so to eat out would have been long taxi journey and more difficult logisitically.

we have recently come back from an all inclusive stay. we have a latex allergy so asked in advanced for another form of showing who we were. they gave us cards. worked great as we just put them in dp's pocket. maybe suddenly get a latex allergy!! lol

Thanks, Its only Spain, as that is where I live and am not feeling very adventurous at the moment. It's an Iberostar hotel on the Costa de Luz, reviews on trip advisor look good, although there are only 3.

If the reveiws are recent and all god great, some people seem to get great deals on theis others say it was more like half board butlins. depends on hotel and individual deals.

As others have said depends if you want to just eat at the same place everynight, (being pregnant sounds ideal), somebigger places have a choice of restruants and can sometimes use neighbouring hotels if art of the same chain.
