Guidebook for children to lead walks/hikes - thank you!

I can't remember who recommended Rocky Rambler's Wild Walks to us, but it's going down a storm in this house.

DS2 has enjoyed reading it and planning walks, and loves "being in charge" on the day. My only criticism is the time allocation for the walks are very generous:
Today we did the walk around Rydal Water at a very gentle pace, exploring everything there was to explore, including three caves, (though we didn't stop in a teashop as we'd set off very early to beat the weather and they weren't open.) It took us 2 hrs, you could easily have romped round in an hr, and the book said to allow four!

So a huge thank you to whoever it was!

we have had one for ages and have bought it as prezzies well before we had our own children

it is brill isn't it, i have recommenede it to a few people on here.

there is one that we get lost on tho' ...on the tip of my tongue but can't remember the name...on the way to coniston from ambleside

I thought it might have been you, but wasn't sure! Ta

Ooh which was the lost one? We've done Tarn Hows. The others generally that way are Wray Castle and Tilberthwaite (ds2 quite fancies that one because of the mines and quarries).

Have you done the Whitbarrow one? That's next on ds2's list!

tarn hows - that was it? we always end up having to go hgrough high high bramble type bushes...iyt doesn't help when the book tells the children not to let the grown-ups interfere

we ahven't done the whitbarrow one but have done the Talberthwaite one ...bit hairy-scary (have jsut read your other post) but the kids loved it.

we've done the wray castle one a few times as it is one of DH's favourites - he used to go to Wray Castle when it was an engineering college

Yes LOL at adults interfering: I occasionally sneaked a glance at the guide to check ds2's navigating when he was distracted by beetles or swallows or something.
But if he caught me at it he was very indignant
