Dp is off to Pakistan on business next week - is there anything I should ask him to buy whilst he's over there?
I think they do great carpets but am thinking of something less expensive & easier to carry - any ideas?

Pashminas. I know theyre not as fashionable now but I can't live without mine. We have an office in Mumbai and every time somebody comes over I get them to bring me new ones - just got a beautiful dusky pink hand emroidered one for £30. Make sure he gets the best quality he can find, nothing more than 10% silk.

sorry, didn't get much help from dh, "depends on where he goes",they have some handicraft stuff but lot of it of poor quality.

i think pashminas are an excellent idea. they've become classics now - they're beyond fashion now, like opaque tights.

Something I bought DD (age then 18 months) in the local Sari shop -- was a little embroidered (beads and sequins and things) skirt-suit. It was £12 and friends assure me I should have paid less, so what do they cost in their countries of origin? It's stunning and people always comment and ask where I got it. I imagine you could buy some similarly beautiful embroidered and beautiful fabric trouser- and skirt-suits for girl children in Pakistan for almost nothing.

now you can see how useful dh is, doesn't really know what pashminas are...
agrees there is nicely embroidered cloths available
mentioned also about the haggling; half the price first then do the real bargaining

dp is going to a few different cities - not sure his haggling is up to much though!
Pashmina is a great idea, although now of course I don't know which colour to ask for!
