Le Touquet or other long weekend in France with a 5yr old?

We are thinking of taking DD to France for a long weekend at Easter, either driving or Eurotunnel. We had thought of Paris, but I'm now wondering about other places. Someone has suggested Le Touquet, does anyone know it? Is there enough for a 5 yr old to do? If the weather is good we can play on the beach, otherwise I was thinking of Lille, but again don't really know what's there. Any ideas welcome.

We did a day trip to le toquet. It was lovely. It seemed quite expensive in terms of shops and restaurants. Like it was quite a posh place! We've also been to Lille several times. I'd definitely recommend this with a 5 year old. There's a great zoo which is free, massive parks, a natural history museums and a sculpture park. I loved the atmosphere of the city too.

We went to Lille with a 5 and 3 year old. Had been there a few times as a couple and loved it and so did the children.

We went to the park/zoo, art museum, natural history museum (small but fun) and generally hung out around the Grand Place.

Without children we stayed in nice hotels - with them we went to a Citadines a part hotel near the Ski Boot place (can't remember the name of that building but it's really near the Eurostar station) so we had a separate room to sit in when they went to bed. It was close enough to walk everywhere albeit it less attractive...

I don't have DCs yet so I'm no real help. We went to Le Touquet and Lille multiple times around that age. My brother and I still talk very fondly of both places. Even though we were little, they really charmed us.

That's great, both sound possible and should be an easy drive I think

We love le touquet and used to take our kids when they were younger.
There is a fab aquarium in boulougne-sur -mer about halfway between Calais and le touquet called nausicca.

We have stayed in Etaples which is just outside le touquet because it was much cheaper.

The beaches are lovely there but prob not very warm in April.
The weather is just like England.
