We had the exhibition on the pier in Brighton last summer. I went twice .

Babyblue2 · 02/08/2006 09:30

We went in March, DH Dr Who fanatic. IMO it was rubbish.

nikkie · 02/08/2006 12:15

but did your DH like it ?
Don't actually expect much there but want to check before we go!

No he didn't, it was £6.00 so not too much but its just a walk through of tunnels with dusty old statues wearing dusty old costumes behind glass windows. You can press buttons which make 'special effect' noises, some work, some don't. The only bit he enjoyed was a rickety old dalek where you could talk into the mouthpiece and what ever you said came out sounding a bit like a dalek. This amused him because he put our DD (3) behind it and got her saying silly phrases. This is just our opinion. Some people may say its great, personlly for us it wasn't.

nikkie · 04/08/2006 18:54

Thought it may be like that , won't make a special trip then!

We (me, dd1 aged 9, dd2 aged 7, dniece aged 6, dnephew aged 10, dsis and dsis boyf ) went there in May 1/2 term. The children all said they enjoyed it, but I thought it was really quite dull. It's been there for years, and closed a few years ago, reopening when Dr Who came back on the TV. There is only 1 room relating to the new series, the rest is, as Babyblue2 says, old and dusty.

The woman on the reception desk couldn't get her head round our request for 1 family ticket, 1 adult and 2 children, so charged us a random £22.50 (where it should have been £37.00). I am glad she had issues with maths, I would not have been happy if we'd spent £37 on it.

Having said all that, the kids did enjoy it.

We went to the one in Cardiff earlier this year, and IMO, that one was better (although smaller). It was free as well, when we went, although they seem to be charging £4.00 now - not sure if they've made it bigger.

I live in Blackpool and have never noticed it, dd loves doctor who as well.

Our zoo is worth a visit especiallly the dinasour exhibition which is fab at night. The zoo isn't cheap but if you wanted you can pay just to see the dinasours.

twinsetandpearls · 09/08/2006 00:25

Blackpoo, zoo

Hopefully if you all start holidaying in Blackpool my council tax may go down

We also have a glitterball

twinsetandpearls · 09/08/2006 00:25

glitterball by night
