Looking at hotels for Disneyland Paris. I was hoping to stay at the Disneyland Hotel but wondered if anyone could recommend a cheaper alternative.

Thank you in advance.

Can anyone help?

There are 2 much cheaper Disney hotels - the Cheyenne and Sante Fe. Both often have offers for free extra nights. I stayed in the Cheyenne and it was fine, just a place to bed down and nothing special but that's all we needed really.

Stayed at Disneyland Hotel, New York and Newport Bay. Disneyland Hotel is lovely, loads of characters around the restaurant area at mealtimes, very convenient for the park, but yes quite expensive. Of the other two I would go for New York as it's closer to the park, nicer food and not much difference in price between that and Newport Bay.

I'm thinking that Disneyland Hotel may be worth the extra as it would be nice if it was more than just somewhere to sleep.

I've stated in the Newport and sequoia and both were great! We went for meals and princess makeovers in the Disney hotel.

I didn't know the other hotels had characters walking around also. This sort of thing just brings my indecisiveness to the fore!

They all have characters. If you go for the inclusive dining oackage you can pick any restaurant to eat at in the park with characters visiting. Disney hotel dining (open to non residents) have loads of em!! The princess restaurant is amazing for princes and princesses (la centrillion or something like that)??? Blush

The Disneyland Hotel rooms (as with all of them really) are starting to look a little bit tired.

I've stayed here, New York, Newport Bay & Sequoia Lodge and any of them are fine. New York is probably my favourite for location... Close to the park without being a walk away from the village for dinner in the evening.

Jellypudmum · 27/01/2014 22:18

They did a big renovation job a couple of years ago in sequoia lodge.

The Disneyland hotel is fantastic, the best bit was that it was sooooo close to the park that you really could pop back for a swim in the middle of the day (or nap!)

To save a big of money then either the new your, sequoia or Newport are absolutely fine, walking distance and you can stop in the Disney village for tea

The more expensive the hotel the better the characters that visit, saying that breakfast with the characters at cafe Mickey is probably just as good

Love The Disneyland Hotel. Perfect if you have little ones & you want to chill out between park visits.
The breakfasts are easily the best & room service is a slightly cheaper alternative to restaurants, also the portions are big! 1 pizza costs 20€ but will feed 2/3 children as opposed to 24€ for 1 in a restaurant!

Characters don't walk around the hotels as such they'd get mobbed if they did but all the disney hotels have organised meet and greet sessions with characters each morning.

At the 4 most expensive hotels, if you pay for a room upgrade (extra £ on top of the standard price) you can get breakfast in a separate area where characters will visit your table. For Dineylad hotel this is called Castle club, NEw York- Empire state, NEwport Bay- Admiral's floor and Sequoia Lodge- Golden Forest. Alternatively anyone can pay to have a character breakfast at Cafe Mickey in Disney Village.

At the Disneyland Hotel, most afternoons there will also be more characters on the main staircase in the lobby for meet and greets. This is open to anyone though not just hotel guests, although not a lot of people know about it (the morning sessions are also open to all too) Disneyland Hotel also has the only hotel restaurant that offers character dining- Inventions but again anyone can book a table here if they so wish. There is also character dining at Auberge de Cendrillion (princesses) in Fantasyland and also Cafe Mickey in the Village.

Other spots for meeting characters are spread across both parks, although I have found more in the Studios. Some have organised queue lines but others are just manned by a single Cast member.

We stayed at Newport bay which was lovely but if you can get an upgraded room as then you get to eat breakfast in a much nicer room than normal! (Sounds daft but we accidentally walked into the standard dining room which was like a big hall with masses of people swanning about and loads of little tables with a buffet and then we went into the upgraded breakfast room which was essentially like being at frankie and bennys which was much nicer).

I've stayed at Santa Fe and thought it was great ! If your looking for the cheapest option I would definitely go with this we loved it . Although we weren't looking for any night life we were out all day then in bed by 9pm Blush

Thank you everyone for your advice. I feel a bit more clued up now -we do have littlies so thinking the Disneyland may be worth the extra so we can nip back easily. This has been really helpful.
