Euro Disney in summer holidays!

pancakedays · 25/01/2014 10:07

We are a family of 6, and will be vining Euro Disney in the summer. It will be my Dd 6th Birthday in July while we are there. Is it worth mentioning before we go? Can they arrange anything special for her?
We are staying in the New York hotel. My brother mentioned that we can phone them beforehand and they may give us a free upgrade to a suite?
Didn't think a suite would sleep 6?
I have never asked for a free upgrade and feel embarrassed about doing this. Who do you contact? Any advice?

I would give them a call beforehand re your DDs sixth birthday and see what they say. They'll probably give her a birthday cake and sing happy birthday to her. Get any promises made to you re this in writing.

I would not think they would ever give you an upgrade without prior payment.

Have a look here for the cake

Not sure about the suite, Summer is high season in
France as it is school holiday time and I can imagine they may be fully booked.

We had a standard room, the bed is large and we had a double sofa bed as well.

No way in a million years will they give you a free upgrade. Do you need a suite?
You can pay for a cake and all the characters will gather round and sing happy birthdaywhich is lovely

Suites were 900 per night at the hotel we stayed at,

I'd mention when ringing the hotel about something else that the trip is for your DD's birthday. they do sometimes leave surprises in the room in these circumstances. Leave it until about a week beforehand as the rooms don't actually get allocated before then anyway.

If you want to guarantee surprises in the room on arrival, all the hotels have a birthday package at extra cost. It includes a soft toy, choc coins, balloons etc. but is quite pricey IIRC.

On her actually birthday, go to City Hall inside the park to collect a birthday badge for your DD. It will mean the Cast Members around the park make more of a fuss over her. They will also be able to arrange a phone call from Mickey mouse to your DD.

Most of the restaurants can also arrange a birthday cake to be brought to your table and a lot of people choose to do this in one of the character dining places as the Disney characters around the restaurant will all come over to join the birthday song too.

You won't get an upgrade for it being her birthday I am afraid. The chances are even less so in Summer when it is really busy.

You can email them or contact them before to put a balloon or soft toy for your daughter in the room but you will be charged.
I have heard of soft toys or chocolate coins on pillows on arrival but this tends to be out of peak season and in premium rooms.

I haven't been for a couple of years but I think Birthday cakes are 20 Euros ? at the restaurants. If you go to Café Mickey and arrange with the server at the beginning of the meal you will get the characters coming out with the cake and singing Happy birthday to your DD at the end of the meal which is great fun for them. They will just add the birthday cake cost to your bill and they box up any left overs for you to take with you.

I think I maybe read your post wrong and that the upgrade isn't just because it is your daughters birthday.

I think Hotel New York has 2 gradings of rooms nowadays and have a premium floor but the chances of even getting upgraded to one of the better rooms never mind a suite are exceptionally low.

I have been upgraded before but I was pregnant had toddler in tow , suffering really bad morning sickness and our room wasn't yet ready (it was before the 3pm check in time to be fair) -so the lovely receptionist offered to allocate us a room that was already prepared, luckily for us it was an upgrade too!

There are Disneyland Paris forums that can be really helpful too -try disboards-they have a good Paris section.
