Tipping in France ?

Hi - just wondering about this, we have been to France a number of times and are going skiing at half term. In the UK we tip 10% on meals - is it the same for France? Just wondered because I have slightly overdone the holidays this year Grin so it would be good to know if it was meant to be less.

Service in France in included in the bill by law, so tipping is entirely voluntary. If I'm paying cash I often round up (ie leave the change) if I'm paying by card I normally just pay the bill.

In ski areas it is probably worth tipping if you intend to eat at the same restaurants and want decent service.

Thanks frenchfancy - I shudder to think how much extra we have paid over the years in unnecessary tips in France - strange how it hasn't equated to excellent service!
