We went to camping del garda last year. We were in a 2 bed Thomson place. V small but clean, had everything you needed.

Our children are a lot younger so the main attractions were play areas and pool. We didn't go to any evening stuff so I couldn't say what it is like.

It is very well situated for travelling by train into Verona and buses to other towns. The town closest to the site, a ten minute walk, Pesciaria (sp?!) is lovely. There were fantastic shops, bakers, gelatarias'.

Hope that helps.

hi
we went there 18 months ago. it was nice, but not the nicest of similar sites we've been to.
Our DC were only 2 and 4 at the time (so cant comment on activities for your DC) but the thing that would stop me going again was the fact that the larger pool was surrounded ceramic tiles which were incredibly slippy, even for adults.. ....it was almost comic with people (children espec) catching themselves or falling over.

The other thing that occurs to me is that if you are going in summer hols, the pool is not massive and would be packed. they also have one other small pool.

Thomson were very nice and the mobiles were nice. I seem to remember it was also within walking distance of a lovely small town, nice for dinner out.

Thanks kriss - do you have recommendations for other sites? We've never done Italy (never done mobile homes!); it's just the last couple of years when we've been in villas/ apartments, there hasn't been much to do for DCs, apart from a pool. They're pretty quiet but like tennis and watersports and a game of pool of an evening! It would be good for them to go off on their own somewhere safe!

We went here last year. It was amazing. Our children 7 & 9 had loads to do, and the teenagers there seemed happy too. Football, archery, tennis, massive pool etc.

Apartments as well as hotel. We hooked EasyJet flights to Pisa and hired a car.

hi, got to be quick (as sadly i am off to watch big brother) - but we have been to several in that area of italy.

Union lido is great - has two fab pool complexes- significantly better than del garda. It massive and has loads going on. we were with thomson and their mobile homes were v near one of the pools. its a really well kept site.

We had our best holiday ever at ca savio- its not the prettiest or even best kept of sites, but the childrens club people were fantastic, there seemed to be loads and loads to do. The pools were great for us but prob bit boring for your DC.

Pra delle torre is about same size as union lido, but a real pain as they have one huge pool complex which was a very long walk from our (eurocamp) mobile,.....and can i just say the eurocamp staff were terrible!!

HTH

We went to Del Garda last August with Thomson Alfresco in 2 bed mobile home (not the basic one) with DC 14 and 12. The accommodation was fine - v comfortable and clean and air conditioning was a must as sooo hot. Whilst I loved Lake Garda I would not go back to campsite. It was massive. We didn't bother with pool as the music drove me mad -"Heads,Shoulders, Knees and toes" on a loop and you needed to wear speedos and swimming hats. We went to the lake to swim but the beach area was very small and did get busy. The town of Pescheira was lovely but a good 20 minute walk away. My DS (14) was bored. The site seemed to be full of Dutch/German families with young children. I did notice that big groups of foreign teenagers hung out at the site entrance in the evening. I would go back to Lake Garda in a heartbeat but stay further up the lake and not on a big site.

dotty thanks for the input - I wasn't totally convinced about the site; but if we went to a quieter site, would it not be boring for DCs? (if your DS was bored on a larger one?) Just thinking!! What we really want is a villa or apartment on a complex with a bit of something going on and maybe a pizzeria/bar on-site, but also walking distance to town/village - I'm asking too much aren't I?? I've trawled the internet but can't find anything.
