Florida - Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

Has anyone done this? If so, what did you think?

It's pretty pricey at 189 dollars but my DD is absolutely Disney princess mad...

We're going this September, how soon would I need to book? I hear horror stories about needing to book restaurants six months in advance, is this true?

(And a recommendation of best restaurant for character dining would be brilliant please!)

I wouldn't tbh, they come out looking like Honey Boo Boo (exaggeration!) I would use the money to let her go mad in one of the shops buying a complete outfit - dress, shoes, tiara etc. my DD was more than happy with that.

Yes you need to book, depends which characters. If you want the castle you need to try booking now!!

curiousgeorgie · 16/01/2014 22:36

Really? Damn!

I just think she'd love the nails / makeup / hair side of it.. Maybe I can book it for the end of the day so I can get her straight into a restaurant and home after Wink

How do you book? Do you have to phone Florida?

If you want a cheaper alternative the barber shop on main street in the magic kingdom does a hair cut and hair up complete with pixie dust for about $10. I brought cheap dresses from tesco an got their hair done there.looked just as good.
If you want to do the proper thing there are different packages and hair styles.so you can do cheaper package with a home brought dress.
You book through Disney on the same number as restaurant reservations.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 17/01/2014 07:00

There's actually now one of these boutiques in Harrods. It opened in that department store last year.

If you do go this is located at Downtown Disney and the phone number is 407 939-7895. (Restaurant reservations for Disney are more often than not these days done online).

CurlsLDN · 17/01/2014 07:07

Hi, I was there in the summer. You can create a profile on the disney website and arrange all your restaurant bookings through it. If you have an iPhone there is also a free app which is great, as you can see at a glance what you've booked and when, and make changes etc.
we didn't book but walked right in to dinner at the castle, but there were only two of us and perhaps we were lucky!

There were little girls everywhere who had been to the boutique (they all come out identical) its sweet, but for a ballet bun and some glitter, not sure if pay that for it!

scrappydappydoo · 17/01/2014 07:14

Actually there are two in Florida - one at downtown Disney, the other at the castle. Guess which is more popular? Grin If you are going at a busy time of year e.g school holidays. I would strongly advise you book early (180 days is the earliest). Also advise booking early if you want to eat at a particular restaurant and you can now book fast passes in advance as well.

www.thedibb.co.uk has loads of advice if you need it

My daughter went to the boutique in Downtown Disney in 2008 as it was her birthday. She absolutely loved the whole experience and still talks about it now. It was a similar price when we went and although it seems a lot, I actually thought it was good value.

TCforTopCat · 17/01/2014 07:37

We took my dd, who was then 4, to the Downtown one when we were at Disney.
I am not a glittery makeup type of person and it does seem a lot of money for a dress, ballet bun and glitter.
BUT it was worth it for the experience, my dd loved being tended to, a lovely girl about 18/19 did her nails for her, then she got changed in the special room! then they did her hair and makeup.
She thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the big chair and looking at herself in the mirror.
You also get some photographs at the studio across the road in certain packages.
We went early in the day as I knew she would want to be a princess all day.
She still likes to see the photographs and I don't think she is too bothered about princess stuff now Grin

HairyPotter · 17/01/2014 07:50

We did it when dd2 was 6. I thought it was great value for money. When you add up the cost of the outfit, accessories, hair slides and make up set it was around the $200. So really the photos and the whole experience was free. She absolutely loved the session. There is a choice of 3 hairstyles but the majority of girls went for the ballet bun. Mine didn't and hers looked fab. The make up can be a bright or as subtle as you want.

All the staff in Disney made an extra special fuss of her in the parks as well. I think they are told to when they see someone who has been to the boutique.

We left it quite late to book and ended up at downtown Disney but I would try for the castle if possible.

Have fun whatever you do. I love Florida and Disney.

curiousgeorgie · 17/01/2014 10:50

Thanks everyone Grin I'm definitely going to do it.

CurlsLDN that app sounds great, do you have a link, I can't find it?

Am considering this for my dd who will be 4 when we go next year.Just wondered do you pay on the day or at point of booking and where can I see all the packages available?thanks

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 17/01/2014 11:00

yes definitely book in advance. there is a website, I will see if I can find a link disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/bibbidi-bobbidi-boutique-park/, I'm sure there was one to book online, but worth giving them a call as it does get really busy. the first time we went, we couldn't get booked in for the full three weeks we were in Florida, the next year we booked in advance.

It is tacky to the extreme but dd loved it, she was 6 at the time. She wants to go to the one at Harrods, but its much more expensive, starts at £100! that doesn't include a dress just the hair and make up.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 17/01/2014 11:05

link from the dibb, must have booked over the phone you need a debit/credit card which they charge if you don't turn up. www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique-p-382.html?hl=bibbidi

five hours behind us so ring in the afternoon and make an early booking as much s adults might think its awful and tacky, they love it and you want your money's worth. You see hundreds of the girls walking around from those with just glittery hair, glitter face make up, and sparkly mouse shaped tattoos, to those in the full on Disney princess dress.

Dontletthemgetyoudown · 17/01/2014 11:11

uk number found on the forum 0800 169 0730, 180 days before you go, so mark it on your calendar and book then to get the slot you want.

We're going last 2 weeks in August, but not booking bibbidi this time. Although that's still open to persuasion, but dd's haven't mentioned it.

scrappydappydoo · 17/01/2014 14:55

Also there is the pirates league which does similar makeovers but piratey so jack sparrow/mermaids etc. Great for non princess people.

Rosvita · 17/01/2014 19:35

Thanks for for the info guys and link dontletme food for thought-will see how far the budget will stretch.not going til October next year so time to decide...

indyandlara · 22/01/2014 17:05

At Downtown they also do a Princess Parade. The girls who have been to the boutique parade through and everyone waves and cheers. However, you can join in without having the makeover. My daughter was 3 and she chose a dress in one of the stores in the park and joined in. A lot cheaper and at that age, she did not even have enough hair for a bun!

RonaldMcDonald · 22/01/2014 17:22

My girls were princess mad but hated the whole experience.
They were overwhelmed by the number of people in such a small space. Eldest didn't like her hair at all.
Both wanted to be changed within the hour.

I was thoroughly depressed by the entire thing and thought it ended up as a complete waste of time and money.
Also v dependent on the students who do your little girls up.

The pirate version - Jack Sparrow, was excellent and they haven't seen the pirates movie etc. it was a real experience and they adored it all

4PlusMum · 31/01/2014 23:02

Buy the dress (plus accessories) your DD wants from the Disney Shop here and then just go for the $50 package. I can't wait to do it with my DDs in May!

curiousgeorgie · 01/02/2014 00:34

Thanks... So they still get the full makeover experience if you buy the dress elsewhere?

OP posts:
AnneEyhtMeyer · 01/02/2014 00:40

You see all these little girls with the same dreadful scraped back hair tightly bunned and laden with hairspray and glitter, plastic shoes and a tacky sash.

No Disney princess looks like the "look" they create. It looks cheap and nasty and costs a fortune.

You would be much better placed to buy an outfit and dress her up yourself.

4PlusMum · 01/02/2014 18:41

Yes, you definitely still get the makeover. Have a look on the Disney website and there are different packages. One down from the most expensive (i.e. with the dress) includes hair, makeup sparkles and nails plus the sash.
