Done to death - but is the legoland hotel worth it?

We're planning a trip to Legoland later in the year, and I can't make up my mind between spending one night in the Legoland hotel and one night in a cheaper local hotel (planning to spend one day in Windsor) or spending two nights in a nicer hotel (which would probably cost less overall, but we'd have to get taxis to and from legoland for one or two days).

Is the legoland hotel really worth it for a night? And any recommendations for hotels in Windsor?

No clue but I was quoted £300+ for 1 night/2days and although I the kids would love to stay there I decided to book to stay at a different hotel for £141 including 1 day tickets then pay £60 on top for the basic Q-bots so coming out at less than £100 cheaper although that's only 1 day in the park.Kids also eat free for evening meal at hotel in that.Am saving for a big holiday at the moment so every penny counts!

It is pricey isn't it. Still undecided - I know DS would love it though, and it's a bit of a splurge trip for us so very tempted.

Honestly yes, i stayed there 2 years ago (ish) in a Kingdom premium room with my then 14 year old dd and 4 year old ds, my ds especially loved it, he still talks about it now. He was so happy and excited it was amazing. It was a great experience for us plus you get to go in the resort a hour before everyone else.
It was expensive though about £350 if I remember right but I would definitely stay there next time.

We stayed for New Year at the hotel and it was magical. My DS loved it. Yes it was pricey, but it was such a wonderful experience it was worth it. There is also the benefit of staying at the hotel that you can pop in and out of park if weather is bad or you want a rest. There is a great swimming pool in the hotel.

I found it was worth it as we got early entry into the park. We also went back to the hotel to use the swimming pool in the afternoon when the the queues were longest in the park. That gave us a little break before we went back in for more rides at the end of the day when the crowds were thinning out. It really helped us to pace the days. We also didn't need Qbots to do everything in two days.
There are loads of reviews on Tripadvisor too, re the set up of the rooms, the buffet etc

It totally ISN'T worth the price but since children don't care about cost they do tend to see it at the best thing ever. There is only those pre teen years where this will be an issue- do one night once and you'll never have to repeat it.
I sat there fuming at the overpricing/service/corner cutting but the boys absolutely loved it.
Hotels are hotels TBH. Kids love a Travelodge where they bounce on the bed as much a five star where they can play with sound system. They will remember the Lego Hotel though.

Any recommendations for hotels near legoland please? We are looking for a room for 4 with two beds ( not bed + sofa bed) and a swimming pool. If you can recommend a good hotel for 2 nights I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks everyone. I think we'll go for it for one night and see what else we can find for the other night.
