Funny! I would love to go to Scotland (normally west coast but near enough) this year but can't face the drive up there. Not far from an airport but can't afford atm. But I can see it would be frustrating - we're near lots of nice areas and we're going down to Cornwall next month - about 2 hours drive.

BTW Pitlochry is the place where they make woolly stuff isn't it? I do seem to remember a fairly high wrinkly count and lots of shortbread shops...

prettybird · 27/07/2006 17:33

P&O do a ferry from Troon to Larne - so nto as far as Stranraer.

nailpolish · 27/07/2006 17:44

prettybird, Troon is still quite far for me (and the dd's)

but thanks for helping

i really really just wish dundee airport or aberdeen airport had a better service, and i could fly to newcastle, manchester, dublin etc for a reasonable price

OP posts:
Skribble · 28/07/2006 01:29

What about Flybe, Easyjet and Ryanair, can't you get decent priced flights with them?

You have more airlines flying out than our local airport. What about Edinburgh or Glasgow for a holiday, loads to do for families. Depends what you wan to do on holiday I suppose.

suedonim · 28/07/2006 01:48

What about driving to the Lake District area, NP, or Northumberland? I live near Aberdeen (when not being an expat) and took dd2 to the Lakes last October. The most stressful bit was driving all the way to Carnoustie with the bl%dy dog whining in the car because I'd left it too late to find kennels nearer home!

Tbh, I think flying short distances is as much hassle as driving, what with airport waits etc. At least when you drive you can stop whenever you need to and can plan a more scenic route as well.

nailpolish · 28/07/2006 08:41

hi suedonim, i was wondering where you stayed at the Lakes? and how long did it take you to get there?

whisper its funny you should mention Carnoustie...
