Hi
Any advice on ages for children. I have provisionally booked tickets for myself and my DS who will be 6. My other DS will be 4 the same month..is he too young to take.?.I am swaying with definetely yes. The tickets are pricey and I want the whole thing to go ok but getting grief from my DH for leaving the little one behind!!
What age were your children and did they cope..thinking especailly when the child catcher comes on!

Dd went with dh when she'd just turned 5 and absolutely loved it.
She gets scared easily and leads a very sheltered existence really (no Harry Potter for her yet - she's now 7) but Chitty was a big hit, and not scary apparently.

We went when dd was nearly 7 and ds was 10. There were quite a few younger children who cried and were scared during it, but I would have thought if your ds is usually alright he would manage. There was a loud bang at the start that started some of them off, so you could warn him that that's going to happen. The child catcher comes right out across the whole audience screaming at the children when he's caught in the net (or he did when we saw it in the West End), and that freaked a few of them out. It was really good though, so I would be inclined to try it!

Thanks for all advice...still wondering..he's a fairly young 3 and half yr old just now so might just leave it. How long is the show..can anyone remember?

I think it was pretty long- at least 2.5 hours, maybe even 3. It would be a shame if you had to leave half way through!

Yes. I took DS was he was 4.5 and he loved it. But he does love the film and knows it off by heart plus he's been to the theatre a few times before so knew what to expect. I was a bit nervous about the child catcher bit but I prewarned DS and he was OK. We just booed at him. Great production but it is just under 3 hours (with an interval).
