Planning a day trip to Disneyland Paris

Has anyone been to DLP for a day trip that could share some tips about how to make the most of the day? Planning on staying in Paris the night before. Best place to buy a ticket, must sees etc (for a 6 year old).

TIA

Get there for park opening, Fantasyland and Discoveryland probably have the most rides to suit a 6 yo. Check dlrpmagic.com before you go to see what rides are in each land, height restrictions, which have fast passes etc, you will also find info about parade times so you can fit in as much as possible. There is quite a lot in Walt Disney Studios for. 6 yo as we'll so don't forget to pop in there if you have the time.

Thank you! It's really useful to have a starting point for researching it more.

Buy your park tickets in advance if you can as the prices are cheaper. There are some French websites (use google translate) that do good deals especially if you specify the exact day you want to visit.

Thanks, thexmaslogin.

I'm currently considering accommodation options. We'll need to stay in Paris two nights for our day trip. The Disney hotels are very expensive for our dates so not sure whether to stay at one of the off site hotels not far away, or just stay in a hotel in Paris near to a station. Looking at arriving in Paris mid afternoon (and going to disney following day) so staying in Paris means we could check in then do so some sightseeing.

I can't advised on hotels in Paris but I have stayed at some of the Disney ones. Yes they are very expensive, but they do include breakfast and your park tickets (for arrival/departure day, so 1 night stay you will get a 2 day ticket) plus you qualify for the Extra hours in the morning before park opening time.

I've also stayed just outside of Disney in Val d'Europe, which is one stop awa on the RER (line A) which also goes into Paris. Obviously hotels there are much cheaper but don't always include park tickets, although some offer self-catering facilities which can cut the cost of your trip dramatically as food in DLP is very expensive.

Another tip for sight seeing in Paris I found out the hard way is that you can pre-book tickets for the Eiffel tower in advance online, which reduces your queuing time. we queued over an hour in the baking sun in August, next time I'm booking in advance!

Thanks Xmas. If we only needed to stay one night a Disney hotel would be fine, but because of our travel plans we'd actually only get one evening and one full day in the park so the cost of 2 nights just isn't worth it. I'll have a look at that nearby hotel though, so thanks for that!

And thanks for Eiffel Tower tip - I queued for hours last time I was there too, so if we do go again I will pre-book.

Buy your tickets in advance as the queues in the morning at the parks will eat into your day so much. Get there for opening and go straight to what your DC wants as the queues build up quickly depending on time of year. If s/he wants to go to the Toy Story rides, RUN! Even getting there first thing doesn't guarantee you'll get on them all without waiting lots at peak season.

They let you take in food quite openly, so do that if you can - not just to save money but to avoid queues again.
