Where to go for Christmas????

After the stress of cooking and family politics in 2013 we would really like to go away in the uk for christmas this year. I imagine places get booked up very quickly so I am asking if anyone went anywhere for christmas they would recommend? We were thinking center parcs but it's expensive so want to be sure. The little ones will be 4 and 2

Thanks

Wouldn't you still be cooking at centre parcs?

Yes but only for 4 and not 13!

I've been to Longleat twice at Christmas as it's near my inlaws and it was lovely. The more Chrustmas activities you book the better I found. We did things like horse and carriage ride to visit Santa's grotto, champagne jazz Brunch, pantomimes, father Christmas lunch, booked the DC into craft making sessions while we used the spa, plus all the normal swimming, bike ride stuff. The decorations are beautiful in the dome place. We ordered a Christmas tree and the DC decorated it as we unpacked the car. We also ordered a turkey or you can go out for Christmas lunch in a choice of venues. Swimming in the outdoor bit in the dark with the steam around us was a lovely family memory. I also enjoyed cosying up with DH in front of the fire when the DC had gone to bed. It was a good combo of a holiday and a traditional Christmas. I've been abroad at Christmas a couple of times but actually preferred Center parcs.
