I've posted in Shorthaul too as not sure where the best place to post was.
Any experiences, good or bad very welcome.

A couple of months ago my lovely hubby booked us a short stay here in 3 weeks time. Most of the reviews I have read have been very positive and honest. But a few have made me worry.

The toilet facilities for one !
The lack of hot water & showers - being communal ?
Uncomfy beds ?

I've recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and can be in a lot of pain & discomfort when walking any distance so I am a tad worried about coping in such a cold climate, especially if it's icy & slippery.

Any recommendations as to what to take ?

george clarke covered it in his amazing spaces programme of c4. might be worth a look?

Hi, Yes I saw it but it was made to look really glossy and didn't cover the nitty gritty toilet/ shower facilities which are frightening me rather. i am sure it'll be amazing, I just need a little convincing & don't want my hubby to be disappointed as it's his birthday pressie to me for my 50th.

Oh my god, he did not think this through did he, if you have Fibromyalgia. I bet he did not know that this region can easily get minus 30 ......

I have a friend who lives in the region, she is Sami, I can ask her how much snow they have and what temperatures they generally have in January.....

You will not have much sunlight, and the sun is NOT warming at all, you will have between 2 1/2 hours to 3 1/2 hours of daylight.

It will be an experience. YOU NEED MERINO BASELAYERS and Hestra gore thex/primaloft gloves. You need to think carefully about your footware.

I recommend boots like this: www.thenorthface.co.uk/tnf-uk-en/women-s-nuptse-faux-fur-iv-boots/p49897.html

Get them a size big so you can have wool socks.

Thank you ! I hadn't been diagnosed when dh booked it. He was so excited to tell me as seeing the Northern Lights are on my bucket list. I don't want to spoil things but need to be prepared.
Yes please Quintessential, any info would be very gratefully received !!

My friend messaged me back that she does not know the place other than by name, but be prepared for minus 30 and 4-5 hours of daylight.
