Ok lots of questions, please impart your knowledge as I haven't got a clue

Villa or hotel (will be all star resort)
Is it easy to drive?
Who do I rent a car from and average price for 14 night?
Is it safe for me in a villa alone with kids?
Are park tickets really £1500 for all 4 of us (that's the cheapest I've found for Disney and universal)?

Any tips/recommendations, I've been looking at it for 3 hours now Grin

I'd recommend a villa, much easier with kids, you cans end them to bed and not have to worry about keeping the tv down etc.
It's fabulously easy to drive, all cars are auto, and the speed limits are quite low compared to here. I love driving over there.
You will be safe in a villa, think of it as your house, do everything you would do in your house, ie, locking doors and keeping valuables out of sight etc.
And yes park tickets are a lot of money!
There's a fab Disney forum I used when we went last Christmas, I don't know if I'm allowed to mention other forums but ill pm you if you want.
We rented a mustang for 3 weeks, so I can't help you with a normal car, but they aren't silly prices :)

Yes please pm me that would be great thanks.
I do fancy a villa but worried kids may prefer a hotel, however we do hotels every year so may be something nice and different

Haven't stayed in villa but plenty of hotels. Some on I drive some on the 192.
I drive is better because you can walk to a restaurant and the trolley bus

Love driving in Florida. Cars are easy but expensive to insure but you need it.
Take the car with a package, either dollar or Alamo, they will always want you to upgrade. Think about how much luggage you will take and bring back.
I've always felt safe in Orlando but usual stuff applies. I've stayed in motels too.
Yes they do cost that much! Have a good think about how long you really need or want to go for and pay for that rather than what they want to sell you

Do you book a 7 day for Disney and a 7 day for universal or 14 days for both?

We found the "best value" was to stay at a Disney Moderate hotel during the free dining dates. We saved an absolute fortune in food and drink and only spent on souvenirs. I couldn't find any way of getting cheaper tickets, we bought 2 week Disney passes. They were pretty good though, you weren't restricted to just one park per day so we liked to go to one park in the morning, then go to the hotel pool during the afternoon when it was too hot to walk around and then to a different park in the evening. We didn't hire car, just used Disney transport which was great and we found less stressful but admittedly its difficult to get to universal on public transport. Would definitely second using the forum for info, helped me loads

I've managed to get my package down to £4500 for 2 weeks at Easter.
That's villa, direct flights, park tickets and car hire
Is that ok??

Remember to add $10 or so for the parking in the parks.
That really adds up.
It might be cheaper to stay in disney with the dining.

But £4500 sounds ok for Florida at Easter. Lovely time, weather wise to go.

The dibb is a very good forum for Orlando ideas. Telling you where to stay. Some have their houses in Florida to rent. Some villas are better than others for distance to the parks.

I can't find anywhere in Disney for anything near that price
It's coming in at £4k without food or Disney tickets

Is there the dine with their meal plans about?
Sometimes they do. I was thinking in the whole mosschops that it may cost more but in the long run cheaper to stay in a disney hotel, even if it's part of your stay. Like a week.

I wouldn't have thought you need more than two days in universal. But I haven't been there since they have put in Harry potter.

I was looking today at going next Christmas.
