Obviously all-in.

Where's good to go and where should we avoid?

I've never personally been but my oh's background is Barbadian from St Peter. Its very picturesque with plenty of beach activities and many restaurants with a sea view. I've been told there's nice little markets if you're into that and as for the beaches, white sands and lovely blue water. Oh and not to forget the flying fish!

The Almond chain are good for families. I've been to the one in St Lucia and 2 sets of friends have been to Barbados Almond hotels and had lovely holidays.

Almond resorts in Barbados have long since closed down. One is shut, the other, Casuarina, was sold to Beaches and is now a couples only resort.

Turtle Beach.

We stayed at Treasure Beach with our (then) 8 year old.
Barbados has so many lovely restaurants, I don't think AI is so popular there.
July weather is not the best in the Caribbean, it is better in winter or Easter latest, do you need to go in July?
Activity wise we enjoyed the submarine ride, the zoo/wildlife park thingy & a jeep safari tour.

We've looked at Sea Breeze recently. It was coming up as a good price in comparison to others.
All inclusive, just been re-done to a high standard, two pools, two dining options for the evening (a la carte and buffet), kids club, nice beech, comfy loungers, drinks included. What more could you want?!

Hi. I'm just hijacking this thread as we are also off to Barbados in July for a few weeks - with our DS(9). I'm particularly looking for restaurant recommendations (serving authentic Barbadian cuisine, rather than the safe tourist menu if you see what I mean).

Is us a safe island? Are there no-go areas?

What trips are exciting for a 9yo?

How about holiday inoculations - are these recommended and if so what do we need to cover?

Thanks in advance.

No jabs needed.
The Atlantis submarine trip is worth doing and go on a glass-bottomed boat & swim with turtles - fun! Smile

Go to Oistins fish fry on a Friday night for lovely fresh fish and a party atmosphere.
Lunch at Ramshackles Allens bay- flying fish wraps mmmmmm.
Snorkel with turtles on any of the Catamatan cruises- my girls loved that. Maybe avoid the Jammin' one- looked a bit lively- lots of dancing compared to our sedate Tiami cruise!
Flower Forest- beautiful.
Wildlife park at feeding time- close up monkeys, tortoises and deer.
You'll be there in the run up to Crop Over so there will be lots of music!
Jealous!!!!!

As others have said, All Inclusive isn't so common in Barbados. There are a lot of really good restaurants at all price levels and it also means that you're not stuck with the food from just one hotel if it's a bit so-so.

I would suggest that the first thing to decide on is west coast or south coast. The west coast is, generally but not always, quite a bit posher than the south coast but also generally quite a bit more expensive as well.

Then, after that it would really depend on what sort of budget you're looking at.
