fairydust · 19/07/2006 16:20

yes.
we stayed in san pedro which is more the marbella end it's alot less in ya face down there and rather nice beaches etc.

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 17:43

wags is Wives And Girlfriends (footballers)

JanH · 19/07/2006 17:47

Anyway to answer your original Q, bl - DS1 just had a holiday in Fuengirola and loved it; and we all had one near Torremolinos and in Marbella (10 mins from beach in super large villa with pool and bees' nest) 3 years ago and also loved it. That was in April, the weather was perfect, and we had one side trip to Puerto Banus which really is WAG country, full of Ferraris and multi-million pound yachts - it was fabbo

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 17:47

why would you bother with traveller's cheques? bank cards all work perfectly well and cost less usually. dunno if you can change them or not tho as never tried.

anyway fuengirola is a bit of a hole but has a great zoo and aquapark and is v friendly (at least, the spanish people are). marbella is posher, but less friendly. think in the summer I'd go for marbella but watch out for the wannabee models with tits the size of footballs. they're scary. san pedro is even more posh and full of hooray henrys in the summer, or used to be.

actually with kids i'd probably aim for somewhere in between fuengirola and marbella, or even further back down the coast towards benalmadena (where there's a sea ife centre and stuff) how old are yours?

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 17:49

oh yeah - it's flippin hot. way too hot if you ask me.

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 17:50

and I think I was thinking of puerto banus with the horray henrys, not san pedro.

lucy5 · 19/07/2006 17:51

I live near both, Fuengirola is more touristy and has lots of brits but probably more to do. It depends what sort of holiday you are looking for really. I wouldn't bother with travellers cheques, I think they are outdated, banks close early here, I would use a cash point. Let me know what you what you like and how old your kids are and I can recommend a few things to do.

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 17:52

he is only 4 weeks so the kiddy stuff isn't really important this year. the place we are staying is between the two - its called mijas costa or something like that.

also can anyone tell me if you can buy farleys formula in spain.

OP posts:
lucy5 · 19/07/2006 17:57

I can't say i've seen Farleys formula bbut I haven't really been looking as dd is 5 but will have a look the next time i'm in a supermarket. I don't really know Mijas costa, I've been up the hill to the village which is nice. Mijas do a lot for tourists so it might be worth googling their website.

chestnutter · 19/07/2006 18:03

I've been to Mijas Costa, it's absolutely lovely. Seperately, we took dd to Benalmadena when she was 10 weeks old and it was so easy - friendly locals, good facilities etc

Blondilocks · 19/07/2006 18:05

Check with your bank what charges there are to draw out cash. With my bank I can use my credit card with no charge other than the conversion between the foreign currency and the pound but on my debit card there is an extra charge every time it's used.

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 18:13

I used to live in mijas costa. it's nice, and the area I was thinking of between marbella and fuengirola.

and you can't buy farley's anything here.

JanH · 19/07/2006 18:25

¡hola, SP!

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 18:27

hola Jan.

I'm melting, how are you?

JanH · 19/07/2006 18:29

Melting too - for once you don't need to think that you would be more comfortable if you were over here! How long till no 3 arrives?

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 18:31

another flippin month!

at least I'm getting lots of sympathy. and probably wouldn't be able to sleep anyway, heat or no heat.

JanH · 19/07/2006 18:35

And at least Spain is designed for heat, like shaded parking at supermarket etc...hope he decides to arrive early anyway

How do DD and DS cope with it? Has school/nursery finished now?

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 18:48

also can you get johnsons baby bedtime bath products in spain? - can you tell i'm desperately trying to minimise baggage lol!!

OP posts:
lucy5 · 19/07/2006 18:49

Yes, i've seen the purple one.

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 18:55

i don't suppose you know how much it is and also where to get it from - the normal supermarket?

OP posts:
lucy5 · 19/07/2006 19:07

Ive seen it in most supermarkets, Carrefour is a big one here. I guess it's about € 3 or 4.

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 20:11

another thing i was wondering if you can get in spain is dentyl mouthwash and jungle formula mosquito spray.
