Planned train strike - have pre-booked tickets, can we get our money back?

we have train tickets booked for a meet-up at london zoo on the 22nd, but a possible train strike has been called, we have singles because it worked out cheaper, refunds are minus £10/ticket which would leave us with very little refund, is there any chance that we would get a full refund if the strike does happens?

Will ask DH in a minute, he's a bit of a train buff (did I really admit that? )

thanks

really cross, dd1 is very excited about going to the zoo but looks like it won't happen,

Nationalrail.co.uk currently says "Should these strikes go ahead, there is likely to be widespread disruption to train services. At this time, no further information is available as which services will run. Customers are advised to check their journey details nearer the time. We hope to be in a position to advise on likely levels of train services during the early part of next week."

So, although your singles are presumably booked for a specific train, if there is another available you should be able to use it on that, alternatively I expect that the £10/ticket admin charge for refunds wouldn't be applied where the service isn't actually running.

Best bet is to call the agent you bought the tickets from to find out what the policy is.

thanks booked them online, its not a huge amount of money but £46 is still not something i'm prepared to lose!

we need to be on those trains to get to the zoo and meet people.

good luck for tomorrow

which train company would you need to use?

last time there was a strike, SWT got their managers to cover some shifts and you would never have known there had been a strike. Obviously it will be different if it is all drivers etc.

also, if you have a car (think the 22nd is a weekend?), the zoo is quite easy to get to and has parking

long drive from sheffield! plus day time driving with the DD's is hell!

Midland Mainline timetable for the Friday & Saturday, if the strike goes ahead, is now here

It looks like it's a replacement bus service to/from Derby until late afternoon/early evening, from when trains start running all the way.
