We were there last summer, had a great day, perfect for under 10s I would say, no marauding teenagers (like at Thorpe Park!) and lots to do. DS loved the dinosaurs!

Don't tell me we agree on something? Holy crapola.

poisson · 10/07/2006 17:04

do we often not?

Just want to say i like Paultons too. My ds's are 9 and 2.7 so they have different ideas of what a fun day out entails but they always come away from there happy.

There are plenty for both of them to do and i like the fact there are plenty of climbing frames/parks for the kids to play on while you get to sit on a bench and relax. Its not too expensive there either which is another bonus.

I would recommend going there to see Santa (when the time comes). Their winter wonderland is great, you walk through an animated grotto until you meet santa who knows all the childrens names and gives gifts suitable for their ages, they are quite nice too not like the cheap rubbish high street santas sometimes give

is it good? are the rides open?

Not much! You might not know that, I don't post for fear of a scarey flick of your fins.

I have been ther a couple of times with my childre but not for three years now. Is there still that boat thingy which goes up to the top and then free falls vertically (well it feels like it!) down again? That is the limit of scarey rides that I am prepared to face!

pebblemum · 10/07/2006 17:28

Not sure what ride you are talking about dumbeldoresGirl but i dont really like high/fast/scary rides (although i have been known to go on them)and there isnt one at Paultons that i wont go on so maybe it isnt there anymore.

There is a new ride this year, another rollercaoster. I saw it when i last went, to see santa, it wasnt completed but looked good. I think we are going to see santa again this year!

I cant remember how much it cost (not too expensive cos we took 6kids)but all the rides in the park where open, the kids got a present and the parents got a mince pie and glass of mulled wine.

poisson · 10/07/2006 17:28

theres a new scarey one claled the cobra

Yeah thats the one, havent seen it action so i dont kow how fast it goes. Might have to take the boys there in the summer hols and let ds1 give it ago. if he gets off and throws up i will know i wont like it

DumbledoresGirl · 10/07/2006 17:39

The one I am thinking of was near to the carpark and you got in a boat/canoe thing and went up to the top of a water slide and then catapaulted down the slide which was in 2 sections. My family said my screams could be heard all across the park!

southeastastra · 10/07/2006 17:44

they have a bizarre musuem too don't they?

Tommy · 10/07/2006 18:09

is that the Ocean Wave DDG? There are 2 water rides - one where you go in a little rubber dinghy thing which is great and one where you go in a log boat which was my favourite.
We went for the first time earlier this year and all had a great time

DumbledoresGirl · 10/07/2006 18:09

Tommy one was scarey and one wasn't.

sparklemagic · 10/07/2006 18:24

we visited this year when they had a noddy day (DS is 3) and it was a good day out, though we've not done this sort of trip before and were taken aback by how expensive it was!! Guess we'll have to get accustomed to it in future years (gulp)...

we also liked the parkland and the little walk through the 'dinosaur' wood.

Tommy · 10/07/2006 18:47

I thought they will brilliant
We were a bit taken aback by the cost the first time as well sparkle magic but when we went (early May) there were so few people there that we were able to go on the rides as many times as we liked. I sat on the log flume thing for about 5 goes! When you consider that the tiny fun fair they have in Southampton precinct at Christmas is £1 a go, I thought Paultons was pretty good value.

Happy memories! I remember when we first went to paultons, ds1 (then aged about 2-3, now aged 10) was too scared to walk through the dinosaur park because of the occasional roaring! Makes me smile to think about it, although I have to say, he is still quite a scaredy cat about some things.
