Probably seem very naive but haven't been on a holiday abroard for years.
I have NatWest bank account. Can I use cash points in France and will I be charged does anyone know?

TIA

Yes. Pass about the precise charges but generally it works out cheaper to go there and get your spending money out (fewer transactions the better) than to pay commission here, I believe.
You will find most machines detect an English card and offer you multi-language options on screen

If your cash card has a maestro symbol, yes you can use an ATM. But the bank will charge you (a flat fee plus about 2.5% of the transaction value)

moneysavingexpert has an article about charges abroad.

But I think the overall rate is so favourable that those charges still don't bump up the costs hugely...hope I'm not wrong.

Thank you. Will have a quick look at moneysavingexpert.
Help received as always!!!

You should get a Nationwide account, I use my card everywhere abroad, there are no transaction charges and I get a very good rate, example a month ago the euro was 1.39 but on my card I got 1.45.
