Hello,

We usually go to West Wittering with our 3yr old DS but have also heard about East Beach at Littlehampton and was wondering if anyone had been and would you recommend it?

Or anywhere else that's nice for families on the sussex coast?

thanks

It's a small world isn't it.
I've started to wonder if the people I bump into are on mumsnet-do you think everyone does that?

I've heard really good things about collis nursery-did your youngest settle ok?

yes both absolutely loved it. It truly is a wonderful place. They have some old hands in there who really know how to suss a child out - they've seen it all and are brilliant with the kids. The facilities are great aswell - they get to do swimming in the summer term and they have a lovely playground.

Have you got a good chance of getting into the school?

rabbitrabbit · 30/06/2006 20:05

Tbh I really don't know. We didn't seem to have any problems with the nursery but that's not an automatic entry to reception is it?
Someone I know was told her dd would be offered a place at Hampton Wick after Collis nursery-which I imagine would be a real nightmare.

no it isn't (an automatic entry). Quite a few get into the nursery and not the school (different criteria) though from next year onwards, they are clamping down and anyone who lives in a river road has to go to nursery at Hampton Wick (though they still have a good chance of getting into Collis reception!).

It's a backlash as lots of people living north of the high street (sort of way behind M&S and further north) are equidistant between St M&P, Stanley and Collis yet don't get a place in any of those schools and get sent to H Wick so have to drive to school every day yet those on river roads are right next to H Wick but choose to go to Collis.

Roughly where are you (don't give your street, just a general area)?. I'll can give you a rough idea of your chances based on the last few years entry.

We're off the high street - near the swimming pool. Please give me good news

you are very close to me

there are a few kids on that street who go to Collis. In dd's year, the northern cut off point was way further north than that (but she has a small year). This coming year, we have a friend who lives at the top of Cambridge road who didn't get in but she knows she was only metres out of getting a place - so the last couple of years, you would certainly have got in.

I go to the playground by the pool alot - you probably see me in there with the kids!

We were in there this afternoon basking in the sunshine.

Thanks for the info-you've made my evening!

I'll look out for you when I'm there. I'm the one normally trying to ignore my kids (because I think they are old enough to just get on with it ).

Are you new round here - I know a fair few people if you are looking for children for your ds to play with?

rabbitrabbit · 30/06/2006 20:27

Good for you!
We've been here for a while but we were going to move last year and then decided to stay! So things were up in the air for a while.

Two of my good friends have moved away in the last 6mths so it's been an adjustment to say the least.
Thanks for the offer-I'll certainly bear that in mind and may well come calling

oh sorry didn't mean it that way!!

meant I know a few people whose children are starting collis nursery

thought you might be very new and not know anyone

Thanks for the link to that fossil site rabbit. We live 20 mins from Bracklesham and I spent my childhood on that beach as my Grandparents lived there and we've only recently found out about the fossils

rabbitrabbit · 30/06/2006 20:44

Thanks fox-for any way it was meant. It was a kind offer.

tallmummy-glad it was helpful, it looks great doesn't it.
