Has anyone been? If so, would you recommend it for my 3yr old ds?
I don't think I'll ever go back to Snakes & Ladders in Isleworth but would appreciate any other recommendations on soft play centres, outdoor activities in middlesex/surrey area (live in Teddington which is close to richmond/kingston/twickenham etc but happy to travel)

yes I've been

3 yr old would like it

much smaller than S&L

has a climbing/soft play bit with a lovely big slide - also has a dressing up box and a sort of fenced in area (fenced in with soft blocks) for smaller toddlers/babies. Has books and some toddler chairs for those who want to read and has colouring aswell and a reasonable cafe where you can eat/drink while they play.

Went while staying at Mum's in Weybridge. Embarrassed myself on slide by whizzing down with DS on lap. Was wearing strange trousers that meant that I went at 90 mph and went crashing into the fence at the bottom - oops. Nice cafe there too.
V. jealous as these places few and far between in rural Spain!

Hi there, I am trying to find a venue for my beautiful 5/ soon to be 6 yr old daughter's b'day party. It's a bit last minute dot com as her b'day is 3rd March and she has a wish list of 30 little darlings. I already drink too much wine so a stress free option would be gr8 (if there is any such thing!)
I have heard on the grapevine of a play area in Shepperton that might fit the bill but don't know the name & being computer-illegitimate am struggling!!
Help me in my quest to become mum-of-the-year and send any suggestions you may have asap.
Many Thanks xx

the webaddress is here

It is really huge and quite fab - and as I understand it the staff for the parties are great - but be aware it can be quite heaving in there (obviously, you don't get it to yourself for parties) - 5/6 I would have throught would still enjoy it - my ds is 3 (yesterday!!) but we go there with a 7 & 5 year old often - 7 is getting a bit big, but 5 is fine...

(oh and good for a 3 year old, rabbitrabbit, but if you can go am rather than pm as less busy

Know what you mean about Snakes and Ladders!
Toad Hall in Woking is pretty good.
We have been to the one at Heathrow Gym too as well as the House of Play in the Big Apple, Woking.

I would second that Playtime in Sheperton is pretty good and has lots to do however it does get extremely busy. Last time we went we had to stand the whole 90 mins we were there. Is very busy when they have 2 parties on at the same time and we now avoid holidays and weekends because of the standing.

All in all its pretty good and the coffee shop section is good too.

An alternative could be Crafties in Chertsey which is only 10 mins or so from there. Its a craft place for kids but does have a small soft play area and they do great latte's!!
Think the website is www.getcraftie.co.uk

I left S + L with a blistering headache - totally horrendous! We've been to Playtime a few times as we are fairly local and my DS just loves it. I also had an embarrassing moment on the slide - a member of staff was seen buffing it up with a can of Mr Sheen previously ..

If it's not the school holidays then we either go at 10 when it opens or around 1pm -it really quietens off then. Also been to a 3 yo b/day party and much fun had by all.

Another soft play area not far from there is at the spanking new Xcel leisure centre at Walton on Thames. It's for 2yo+. It's behind a soundproofed glass window (hurrah!) so you can sit in the cafe and watch or sit inside though there are only a few seats inside. Huge car park. Only been during the day and not in the holidays or weekends when I imagine it's nightmarish. But at 9.30/10 in the morning it is virtually empty.

Playtime Shepperton

Compared with the soft play centres we have visited on holiday a bit small and tatty. Food is not great but quite cheap so I cannot really complain.

However, on my first visit I was deliberately kicked in the balls by someone else?s child nearly dropping my two-year-old on the concrete floor. Earlier another child had lain on top of me in the bouncy castle. There were no staff supervising the play area and parents did not seem to be preventing their children behaving inappropriately.

My two did not want to leave but I will never take them back. I have better things to do than be attacked by other peoples children my own are quite enough.
