Flying with an 8 week old

Looking for advice on flying shorthaul (London to Ireland) for a week long trip. Does anyone know if we would be able to take our babystyle oyster buggy with the car seat upto the plane door or if we would have to check it into the hold? We are planning on flying Aerlingus.
Thanks

Will they allow you to fly? Some airlines do until babies are older.

Each airline is different but whenever I flew with my babies I was able to take the buggy and car seat up to the gate or the plane door. I also had a baby carrier for the plane as the buggy often came out with the cases at the other end.

I first flew with my DD when she was 8 weeks old, there is no reason why you can't fly with a young baby, although my midwife advised waiting until 6 weeks just because they can have problems with their ears on planes before that.

You may find it settles your baby to feed her during take off and landing.

Do check what ID (if any) that you need to fly with the child- I think I needed the birth certificate when mine was 6 wks old on a UK/Irl journey.

I took both of mine young. To be honest, I found it was easier to check the pram in and use a sling, particularly with the second. It was a right faff collapsing everything to put it through the xray machines.
