day out in bristol

we have a family trip to Bristol tomorrow, 4 adults, two 4 year olds

what should we do?

needs to be a good activity but reasonable priced

any recommendations?

The science museum in the centre (forget its name, think it's just one letter) is brilliant for small kids. very interactive and loads to do - walk inside giant hamster wheel, take shadow photos - that sort of thing.

Looking round the old boats in the dock is good too. They sometimes have a pirate ship you can go on for free.

Spotting Banksy graffiti is fun.

Going on a boat ride through the city.

Spotting all the wonderful guerrilla art. When we went all the railings had crocheted or furry covers one day, then next day they'd gone. DC loved spotting the street art.

I love Bristol. Only spent a few days there but could happily move there. It's one of the best cities ever.

yy to @ Bristol, the science museum. Interactive fun for all ages. The red bus tours are good too as they go all round the city and once you have your ticket you can get on and off as much as you like.

The museum is @Bristol and it's fab for kids. It's a shame all the Gromit statues have gone-they were brill!

There's a zoo, the aquarium, m-shed which is a free museum, there's cafés along the waterfront & a boat taxi that goes to the Brunel's ss great Britain and the suspension bridge.

It's a great place, you'll love it!

Science centre is called @Bristol and is v good but expensive. Worth googling for offers daysoutwithkids.co.uk often has child goes free with paying adult voucher.
Lots to see around the docks, Mshed is free museum about local history with bus to climb on, dressing up stuff, lots of ye olden things. Walk down towards SS Great Britain and get the little harbour ferry across the other side. SS great Britain is v good for all ages, again not cheap but you get a year pass, lots to see and very interactive. The 'pirate ship' is a replica tall ship called The Matthew which is often open to the public (free)
At top of Park St is the Bristol museum (free) which has a v eclectic range of exhibits, some Banksy stuff, Stuffed animals, Egyptian exhibition, play/dressing up space for under 7s, dinosaur bones....

But you are too late, you missed all the Gromits!

great days entertainment and the only cost was the parking

Another free thing is to go to Blaise Castle in Bristol - walk or cycle round it and there is a brilliant play area. Something for another day.
