Holiday Headaches.. How far ahead do you book yours??

DS1 will be starting school in Sept and we've suddenly realised that after this summer we're now destined to fight for the best places in school holidays and pay 3 times as much.

Was further depressed to read a report in the Sunday Times yesterday which said that the best ski chalet holidays for 2005 were already all booked up...

DH and I have always booked things fairly late - we're REALLY going to have to change our style
How far ahead do you book your hols - particularly if you have schoolkids??

Hulababy - we went to Sydney in August and it was fine. The wind was a bit cold, but the sun is much more intense than in England and when it shines you are warmed by it.

Any time Issy! In any event, why don't you come for the weekend sometime after easter. I'll give you a ring...

I book holidays far enough ahead to be able to look forward to them for a while, but not so far in advance that I can change my mind about where I want to go! 3 or 4 months usually does it. I've never really found a problem with availability... I think things "getting booked up" is a bit of a myth put about by travel agents.
