ok - this was the one I watched - they went in February and stayed in the Ice Hotel and I must admit, it looked absolutely amazing. You could probably do it cheaper if you booked it all yourself(cost looks huge!).

Also, saw one from Alaska, I'll see if I can find that.

Thanks foxy

I have seen that one for abt £700

Do you think it would be a good pressie? He loves dogs and has said before he would liek to sled

think it's a fab present, and what a lot of fun! do you get to go as well?!?!

fairyjay · 21/06/2006 12:42

CD
We had a fabulous Christmas in Lapland, huskies, snow mobiling, ice fishing, reindeers, skiing - it was brilliant. The accommodation was fairly basic, but that was probably just the package we were on. I think it's a great idea. Have you seen the 'Discover the World' packages?

foxinsocks · 21/06/2006 12:45

here's the other one though has long flight and would prob not be worth it for 3 days

I think he would love it. Can you see the northern lights there aswell? Have you looked it up on tripadvisor or somewhere like that?

I imagine it's quite keyed up to visitors (the place with the ice hotel) - do you think he'd want that or somewhere more remote?

CountessDracula · 21/06/2006 13:43

Prob a bit more remote

I think he would adore it

my only reservation is that dd will only be 4 - we could leave her behind with my mum but imagine how much she would love it. But we would be limited in what we could do if she came...

Fairyjay, is the dog sledding ok if you have a bit of a bad back (he does)

CD - DH has been researching this, will get info for you. I know that the Ice Hotel also has Aurora houses with glass roofs for watching Northern Lights through. See here When's your DH 40? Am thinking of doing something very similar myself.

CountessDracula · 22/06/2006 10:26

that would be great

I don't want the Ice Hotel though was thinking more of log cabins etc like this and they have glass igloos too

However I called them and they don't do drive your own dog sleds which I want grrrr

1 August is his bday
