And also, are you able to take your car out of the park for the day to go sightseeing in the local area or is your car trapped in the Centerparcs carpark until your departure day?

i have only ever been to sherwood, this has a fab pool area and has recently had a "rapids" ride added to it.

you can go out of the park, you get a pass for your car to get back in.

THanks TE - we'll be taking our son who will be 11 months old, so the quality of the pool area is our main concern as we really don't want to be 'hemmed in' with a dozen racuous teenagers splashing about. Anyone else have any advice on which CP has the biggest and best pool area?

the toddler area at sherwood is relatively ok and you can sit against the dividing wall between the changing area and pool and would not be sat in the through traffic to the big pool.

when rapids on in big pool - the edge is relatively quiet so can enjoy the waves without too much hassle.

they've also got a lane pool and a seperate bubble pool now (behind food area) - which when we were there in March was very quiet and appeared "undiscovered" by the majority - our 6mth old loved the bubble pool esp as you can't take them in the jacuzzi.

I think they are all a bit of the same really and I think the test is really what time of day you go in to use the pool.

they do have a toddlers only session between 9am and 9.45am when the whole pool is available to the under 3's and parents.

Only been to Longleat and Cumbria. Longleat has a small area for babies. Oasis has a much bigger area for little ones.

Hi J - is there any outside pool area at Oasis? The CP website doesn't show any proper pictures - what on earth have they got to hide?!!

J - also, which did you prefer out of the two parcs? We're not that fussed about the actual activities - just want a break with our baby son so it really is the pool area and general feel of the place that is the most imp thing to us. TIA

Went to Longleat last month with 4 month old baby. Never been to any Center Parc before and thought sub tropical paradise was shabby. The changing rooms are dreadful but are about to be refurbished. Baby changing facilities were cramped and nearly always being used at times we were in the pool. We DIDNT go in holiday time so maybe more babies there.

Longleat is VERY hilly.

If there is a CP near you go to the nearest because you could be ANYWHERE in country.

Longleat CP was right by Longleat Safari park and house which was great. We bought a passport at discount because we were staying at CP and went over a couple of days. Good Value

21 days til we go back to Longleat! I'm more excited than the kids.Grin

ITA that the whole pool area/changing area could do with a revamp. We noticed a few months ago that some of the render had come off the walls of the pool and that generally it was all looking tired. However, we have been going for nearly 7 years now so it has aged gradually.

This is the first time that I'm not taking a bike. Finally, the kids are all able enough to cope on their own so I shall amble along at my own pace.

21 days!

Longleat Aqua Sana is being refurbished right now. That too I thought was a little tired, but worth the 3 hours of being on my own. Actually I think I slept an hour in there! Not everything was working and the odd tile was loose or missing.

Holymoly321 · 16/06/2006 14:10

Hmm - sounds like Longleat could be out then - anyone been to OAsis Windfell or Sherwood Forest?

I've been to them all and the nicest children's pool for toddlers is definitely at Elvedon.

madmarchhare · 16/06/2006 14:21

Ive been to Sherwood, pool is good and there is a seperate area for babies and toddlers, but even the main pool is fine around the edges (not school hols though when we went).

Its also quite flat so good if you are hiring bikes with those trailer thingys.

The whole park was very clean and staff very helpful.

We have just been to Whinfell Forest with our 3 month old, the pool area for young children was fab and separated from the other parts of the pool, they also have family changing areas which made the job a bit easier.
We loved our whole trip and even though our young'un was too young to participate in anything it was wonderful to feel it wasn't a problem having a young baby with us. We left ours in the creche whilst we enjoyed the Aqua Sana, it was excellent well worth the money, and also the creche seemed good, they gave us a full report on what he had been up to. We also used the baby sitting service one night and our baby sitter was lovely, however restaurants weren't that good and even if you pay for a baby sitter you will still have everyone elses kids around. We enjoyed our bbq evenings more.
